Henlo Lions friends, I come with a couple of kinda random questions.

My anti-social ass is supposed to be going to the Sunny Coast on Saturday with some Lion member friends of mine to take in your AFLW side, Any tips or things I should know in advance?

Additionally; A very good friend of mine is currently working in Wagga and despite being a league baby; She has been suckered into playing some footy down there and wants to get into the game more. Sadly I could not convince her to barrack for the Suns but being a Brissie girl I did manage to convince her the Lions were a far better shout than those other teams south of the border.

I'd like to get my hands on some specifically AFLW merch/gear to send down to the newly converted, Any chance anyone of you guys would know where's the best place to snag some would be? I'm kind of out of my depth if it's not got red on it.

All the best for the weekend. Hopefully, a good game and we can get our Pineapple Grapple on at some point down the road

Ta

Here is the most obvious answer for the merch - The Lions Shop (link below) and they can send it directly to her. Some larger Rebel Sports also have merch in Brisbane but it is very hit and miss.

Round 5 - Brisbane Lions vs Collingwood Magpies
@ Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex, Sunshine Coast
Saturday 5th February at 4:10pm (QLD time)

Mini-preview: The Lions have won their last two games after a poor start against Adelaide, who look to be early premiership favourites alongside Freo. We dominated the games against the Cats last week but couldn't handle the windy conditions and Geelong parking the bus in the backline. In the end, the Lions would have been stiff to lose, but you need to play the full game, even after a 5 day turn around. Also, Tahu needs to stop giving away frees and perhaps needs more support.
Now for Collingwood. Freo made them look ordinary last week, but they usually have good teamwork and even contributions. The Lions need to keep on playing the same pressure game as the last 2 weeks but make sure that they put more of a score on the board. Can't afford to have this too close in the last quarter. Key is to keep Chloe Molloy down to one goal or less. Lions moderately comfortably by 15 pts (likely to be 1.9 not 2.3).

Webb & Wuetschner omitted. Covid after effect? I would have thought Tahau would be benched b4 either of them??

It's crazy how we've been to three grand finals, winning one, have a handful of literally the most experienced players in the competition (though Lutkins' injury knocked out one of them), yet we're consistently less experienced than our opposition.

Where are we playing the saints next week? I missed the first 3 quarters and they said that we are playing in Queensland in the 4th. Is it at Maroochydore again?

I don't think that there has been an official announcement yet.

Other than the fact that they still have to make up a game, the Girls have a pretty decent run home before finals.
With 2 games against current top 6 teams in Melbourne and the Kangas.
And 4 teams currently outside the top 6 in, Suns, Richmond, Bulldogs and the Saints.
Biggest hurdle will be the quick turnaround for a couple of games to make up the missed one, hopefully they don’t do that in between the last round and the finals.

For those interested, our Lions Level 3 Academy play Gold Coast Academy tomorrow at Yeronga. Kick off 2pm

AFLW Round 6: St. Kilda vs Brisbane Lions @ Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Oval, VIC
Sunday 13th February (1:10 pm in VIC and 12:10pm in QLD)

Mini-Review: First game ever against St Kilda and a game in Melbourne finally. Wondering if they will bring the premiership flag down but I am not sure that it will fit in the overhead luggage... At the time of writing the teams are not announced yet.
The Saints are an honest team but are missing a few players and haven't won a game yet. They are likely to pack their backline with players to try and limit the Lions scoring like Geelong did - so probably will be relatively low scoring again. I think that our defence will be too strong, especially if the Lions hold the ball in our forward half.

Tip: Lions by 19 pts with the final scores 41 to 22. Will be more if Dakota can more shots on goal. Our midfield should run riot and Orla will be BOG again.

Edit: In Luka Yoshida-Martin (debut), out Zimmorlei Farquharson (illness).
