I'd love to get De Goey but it's hard to see him leaving Collingwood when they are playing great football and finals in front of 90k crowds at the MCG.

What do we have to offer him apart from more money? A chance to play in a dysfunctional forward line under Ratten in front of 30k crowds at Marvel.

That's the thing. Everyone would know that he joins us only for the money, there would be no other reason. Can we live with that? What message does that send the group? I don't know the answers, just throwing it out there.

We're like the ugly bloke at the bar that has to splash out on the free drinks just to get the hot girls interested and even then we are still no shoe in.

No pressure on the Freo v Doggies game.

Nothing to live up to so far - only three extraordinary games so far this weekend.

(Forget about it - no way we get De Goey now)

I don't often agree with you but we should have played finals at a minimum. We aren't a rebuilding side. We are a solid list that is prone to a our depth getting tested but there wasn't any reason we should have missed and Dogs, Richmond, Lions etc made it. Geelong weren't even that far above us.

To me it's a super even year and Sydney who don't fit at the usual premiership list profile are a very very good chance. The danger is that there isn't heaps of organic growth left and if we persist with the same game plan the same result is likely next year but there are sides that are coming up and might jump over us.

The worst thing to do would be to top up again when the lemon has already been juiced. Noble hopefully does a pretty in-depth review. The thing that we can't afford is to keep going down the wrong road for another few years. There isn't a right or wrong direction and an element of gambling either way but you want to go in either direction with eyes open and a plan.

I'd roll again next year and if by the bye, we are looking shaky pull the pin on Ratts and find a new coach. If it doesn't pick up, start a refresh where drafting is the priority and the GOPs get traded or delisted.
I'm coming around to your thinking a bit. Watching this finals series is particularly torturous this year, we really need to make our move soon because at the end of the day finals are big games. We aren't a club that play in a lot of big games but finals always will be. We need our guys getting this experience, we need to be pushing towards winning finals and ultimately the flag.

Two years ago we won a final and donuts since. If we've spent two years getting some shit together then that's fine but we need to make a move next year. Don't care if it's the coaching, the gameplan, the resilience, the development, the trading, the drafting, the midfield, I just don't care what the problem is anymore I just want to be playing in September because as a club we need it. Half way through this year we looked like we were back there which is why this September hurts so much.

Ratts needs to make moves next year and if we're basket casing half way through the year I agree he has to go.

Having said that I'll retain the faith that we make our move next year. As we've both said the pieces are there but it's time to put it together.

Yes. Any motivation is fine.

Oh sure this bloke gets on the roof of the stadium and it's "entertainment" but when I do it it's "illegal". That's show biz for you.

I agree, how about that Magic Mike movie, but when i do it at the local , they all get shitty and call the cops.

That's fine, so long as he's willing to play the footy we know he can play. If he gives his 100%, it's a win.

I'm torn on Hill. Is he giving 100% but being played out of position, or is he giving 80% but getting paid big money?
It's why I no longer take issue with Billings. He seems to be getting paid closer to his output. Gresham might be getting paid too much but I'll determine that when he isn't interrupted by injury.

Is Acres kicking the reason clubs seem to not like him?
