Zac Dawson, Luke Delaney, Nathan Brown now it looks like Kyle Hardigan.

Probably would have been Robbie Tarrant if the Tiges hadn't jumped in ahead of us last year.

I reckon we’ve still done reputation damage. We look gullible and weak. I’d push StKilda around knowing that they’ll go to water and piss their pants if you thump the table. Next trade I’d triple what ever I wanted and expect us to pay it. No manager would think Hill was worth what we paid. Freo would have looked like a campaigner.
Well, except when we stared Adelaide down to get Crouch….

Zac and Nathan were pretty handy players.

There were heaps of people in disbelief at the cost. I thought I might block the thread up if I rounded them all up.
No doubt I was all in, thinking not only was it a brilliant move from St Kilda but that we just pulled off the heist of the century against Fremantle.
It doesn't take much for me to back the club, I would have given Richo an extension after we beat Gold Coast by 2 points years back. I'm a sucker.

Zac and Nathan were pretty handy players.

Even Delaney seemed handy when we'd been playing 188cm Gwilt as full back. Simpkin seemed taller at 191 , but his shoulders were lower than Gwilts i think. 192cm Fisher did ok when he came back from injury.

Stared down? He was a free agent, it was match or shut up.
Crows fans were expecting the club to match our offer and force a trade bc we weren’t going to offer them what would have brought them a first round compensation pick. We said we were only interested in taking him as a free agent, or nothing and offered what we were prepared to pay. Basically called their bluff because we were prepared to walk and they didn’t really want to match and keep him. They folded.

That was a lot more like it, he has been a good get.

A lot easier when we knew that they didn’t really want to offer a contract and just wanted us to pay more to get better compo.

It was obviously between him and Caldy so had plan B

Please don’t sully one of our few great trade heists with the facts….

I had a quick look, in his trade thread there were plenty of us but I was telling people before when there were ay terms agreed too as well.
Yeah as I said there were a few unhappy but the majority view was that we'd improved the list and that is either on here or in the media. Look at the Brad Hill welcome to St.Kilda thread and the pre-season thread against the Hawks. Majority including myself were fawning over the guy.

It's done now anyway, personally I don't have a ****ing clue why we promoted Gags and Lethers, I just hold out hope that their new positions are better suited to their skillset. For me it's less about them potentially not being good enough and more about us being too gung ho. I worry that we get caught up in stability instead of looking to see if other options are available. But I have absolutely no idea, just guessing like the rest of us.

We are also celebrating not getting a deal done as well. We nearly had the third best ruck at the worst side in AFL over the line but we surprised everyone with one of the great muscle flexes in trade history.

In that one there were pages and pages of people shocked at what we'd given up. Stuv was also part of it where his nothing compo pick was thrown in and Bruce for less than we expected. The overwhelming sentiment seemed to be people angry with the cost. Even the positives ones were trying to spin it as looking at the whole trade period rather than individual trades.

We'd given away Stuv, Bruce and Goat who were all loved (by at least some of the fanbase) and their picks thrown in like they were some pocket change. The only thing that saved them was COVID, a fast start to 2020 and making finals. I think if we'd missed finals or played badly there would have been a few at the club looking for jobs.

You don't seem like one for sentiment. Much loved players? I thought it's all about improving the list. We most definitely did that. Steven was cooked and we found that out immediately but the club would've known about it for a while. Acres was inconsistent and after years in the system never looked like coming on. You described him as pocket change and not a legitimate swap with Hill. Bruce was a loss, but we had King in waiting and I doubt anyone cares now that King is kicking 50 goals a year and looks a far better player than Bruce ever was.

If we sat on our hands and kept all three I'm sure you and others would still criticise us for not doing anything to change the direction of the club after missing finals every year that they were all there. Because that's the alternative, you either do the deal and moan about potentially overpaying for someone or you offer unders or don't co-operate with other clubs and trudge out the same 22 you did the year before.

I still can't understand how you said the list hasn't improved much from when Gags came in when we were a bottom four club, yet four years later you say we have a list built to contend but you want him sacked. We've gone from bottom four to contenders just because.

Then in other discussions you blame the reason we aren't contending this year as a failure of the coaching group who you say are holding us back.

I'm not sure it can be both, it's either the coaches getting sacked for not getting the most out of a group built to contend, or it's the list manager getting sacked for not improving the list in 4 years.

Hannebery deal was a disaster but this was definitely not. Hill hasn't been the player we hoped but it hasn't been a complete disaster either. I don't think Gags deserves a promotion for his efforts but to say he should be sacked after he built a list that you reckon is ready to contend is nonsensical, surely.

We bought in a more mature list of GOPs instead of the existing set of GOPs we had. I wanted them to keep drafting with a better recruiter. We should have been drafting then not now. We have created a mediocrity loop. Even Richo with less even list could get us just outside of finals. He was unlucky with injury in his last year.

Hanners was a **** up but not a disaster. Hill was more a disaster, he cost a lot of capital and we want to get rid of him already, he wasn't a missing piece and it cost us enough capital to do a mini rebuild. The sides that took those picks to the draft reaped benefits.

We built a list to play finals. We don't have a list to win a flag but we should have played finals apart from coaching. We don't have much under 23 talent on the list so internal growth is more limited than others and it's a soft year. Eras don't often stay like that. We very likely stand still while others fly past because Lethlean looks like he built for a quick finals fix but stuffed up the coaching appointments.

It can definitely be both.

No it can't, it's either the list manager getting sacked for not improving the list over the span of 4 years or it's the coaching for not getting the most out of the players. Given you said it was a list ready to contend, surely the issues/responsibility is with the coaches.

Gags shouldn't have been promoted but he definitely shouldn't be sacked for developing a list ready to contend lol

Lawyers should do what Carey did and drop the dope

Dumbass asks you if its a good idea to get representation for his stupid social indiscretion's.

You are a lawyer and you like money. You say yes.
Dumbass asks if there is a case for defamation.
Once again you consider the money and say....maybe. ( you'd have said yes, but you don't think there is a chance in hell ).

To make up crap about how disabled and in pain your client is post footy, after having gone on SAS Australia is just gold.

Everyone dragging Wayne through the mud on this should be ashamed of themselves. Disability discrimination is a serious thing and nobody should have to go through what Wayne did.

I know there's no point telling you this but if we didnt improve the list a few years ago then we win a lot less games over the last few years and you're still not happy.

We have made the team competitive, they turned over the list enormously and have improved it, looks like now we are injecting youth into it again. In an ideal world we have stronger drafts in 2019 and 2020 but there are still some very good kids on the list and there is heaps of scope for improvement.
