What's the chance ex hawthorn staff at the club were involved at all

Surely if this is true then others will be implicated. Maybe not for direct involvement, but it's hard to imagine that no one else knew what was going on.

I’d take Jim Jones or Charles Manson as coach if it meant reaching a Prelim the year after finishing 17th

Both of those were good at getting their players to buy into the program.

This is a very delicate and well written out and thought out piece. There us no way this would see the light of day if there was fabrication.

There is journalism like "buddy came home and took out all the bins in the street, one neighbour reports" or "this player was cmaking a scene while maybe off his head" and there is a journalistic piece like this...

Big difference

I've got no doubt it's much harder to work hard on the training track if you have a newborn at home, newborns are rough (at least they were in our house). But clearly putting that sort of pressure on a young guy is completely *ed.
It is absolutely inexcusable. Every single bit of it. Their legacies will have to be seriously tarnished after this.

Thank heavens Clarkson is not at our club.

SEN now have Danger on saying "the game has got it's soul back", ironic quote on the day it actually lost it. Where's the bucket 🤮

I'm still surprised there isn't wall to wall discussion about this on the airwaves.
Oh, there will be.

it’s pretty obvious he made that comment without the Hawthorn news in mind. But under what context did he say it?
Because the grand final is back at the MCG?

I seem to remember Leigh Matthews (re: Daniher) on the radio recently saying he told his players at the Lions repeatedly they should not have unprotected sex with their partners in late December / January as he hated people missing final games to attend their kid's births.
That’s just smart planning. This is different entirely.

Can’t see how clarkson and Fagan can coach next year
Sorry to hear that. Watch the AFL pay everyone off and make this disappear like a puff of smoke. .

Oh yeah he wasn't commenting on the Hawks stuff. It was just a dumba** quote to make and completely out of touch with current events. I'd be livid if I were a player being interviewed today. Talk of forcing an abortion, everything else pales into insignificance. Danger was upbeat and out of touch, especialliy as a leader.

Not at all. Just don't want to jump at shadows and talk hypocritical sackings based on a story that may or may not be 100% factual.

You said that there is no chance it's true, so you've clearly made up your mind.

No chance it's true.

That post tells me you've instantly made up your mind that it's false

Would be staggered if Clarko ever sets foot in an AFL club again and possibly Fagan as well.
Both of them need to go, and Jason Burnt needs to be sacked from Caulfield Grammar. These three shouldn't even be involved in footy in any capacity as a coach that's 'developing' people.

I do not understand how the decision to do all of this, which must have been made within the coaching group, got the tick of approval. Did no one object at all? This shit is abhorrent.

Lot of speculation here.

Some people are assuming it was systematic racism. Names removed but i can pretty much figure who one of them was.
It may have also been a poor way of responding to having a young player off the rails with a meth addiction who happened to be indigenous.

I'm only guessing that they were trying to break him from his social group.
Given its in the official report comissioned by the club (and now being reported on) its a bit more than "speculation". In reality if even half of it is true (which would be the best possible outcome for the Hawks and people involved) its still bad.

Id urge anyone with thoughts on this to read the Collingwood report as a pretty solid baseline for comparison. It wasnt good but compared to this it was nothing and that report made Eddie stand down.

Do you mean hypothetical sackings? Cause theres nothing hypocritical about them if these reports are accurate and theres no reason to think they arent

Why do you assume it was a decision made within the coaching group. I'd highly doubt that. I'd consider it would be a select few that would have been involved.

There's a difference between vetted news report and talking unsubstantiated s**t on an anonymous forum. If what you're suggesting (completely without evidence from what I can tell?) is false, it is absolutely disgusting thing to post in the circumstances. And even if it were true a) this is not the time or place to air it without evidence and b) it still doesn't justify the actions described in the article.
Theres also the "Brad Hill like him" thing which is a take on the "I have black friends" defence. The hawks have form in the area with Rioli which is very very well known.

Given the weight of evidence and fact its a really odd position to take to even bother with a defence of anyone involved in this shit show, even if that defence is as passive as "i wanna wait for more facts".

Well said.

Maybe Hill wasn't subject to this abuse and might not have been aware of everything that did occur to his teammates. But that doesn't lesson other people's experience at Hawthorn during that time.

What's gone on here? So much happening, Clark out and now this. Haven't checked the news this morning.

Had a few reports about a few posts, can we keep it civil and speculation free please. Cheers all
