As some have asked ..... were Clarko & Fagan involved in the review for their side of the story? ..... nothing mentioned in the reports if they were ...... just that some club people had been interviewed but no mention who

Now we have Clarkson coming out and refuting the allegations saying he wasnt afforded any due process ..... so he wasnt interviewed?

Clarkson said that he had not been involved or consulted.
Perhaps the AFL had intended to do this first if it had not been leaked.

Shocked Hawks friend of mine told me this afternoon that he believes this may be the reason Kennett got rid of Clarko. He can’t understand what other possible reason there could be to get rid of a superb coach.

Things becoming a little clearer now with hindsight?
I hadn’t considered that, but it makes sense. Let’s not forget how keen he was to get rid of Clarko earlier too.

Imagine if Kennett comes out of this looking like the good guy after everything that’s gone on lol

As we all know, after the article on Robbie Muir, the journalist who has exposed this story has a very good reputation.

I find it very hard to believe he would put this reputation at risk and write something like this which has the potential to explode in his face, if he wasn’t 100% sure of his facts. He’s not a gossip columnist.

Matt Finnis had absolutely no compunction in believing his story about Robbie and apologised without qualification to him.

Personally, I can’t see how this is not an accurate accounting of events.

He doesn't need to be sure of his facts, he's quoting the contents of a report.

I know it's still all speculation or whatever at the moment but in the case of Fagan, I can't remember the last time someone stepped down from a role and then went back to it after an investigation. It's almost like an admission of guilt. I would've loved him at our club purely for his football IQ but it's hard to see him ever getting another job in the industry.

Wayne Carey.

Finnis' response to the Robbie Muir story was first class and exactly how anyone should act if another story was to come to light. He believed, apologised and allowed reconciliation to be done on Robbie's timeline, not his own. Not once did Finnis get publicly defensive or question the story.

I'm not sure I have faith in the new CEO to handle a similar situation so well.

Honestly not a fan of Finnis but he was first class with this stuff. He was absolutely in his element handling these type of situations with class, compassion and letting the victims know that we owned our part in it. A club like the Hawks could do worse than bringing him in for a role to handle the fall out of these types of situations.

Disagree, I think it's the easiest move to make right now to keep the heat off. It's the off season, he may well enjoy spending a little extra time away from the club.

It will be interesting to see what happens if this isn't resolved by early February, though.

Can you remember anyone stepping down and then coming back?

Some of the stuff Muir has done with the club since then has been great to see too. Guy actually feels comfortable at the club again. It didn't take much either, simply speaking up about this stuff these days is met with plenty of support.

There's definitely still a lot of the drongo boys club attitude in the industry, it's all pretty incestuous really...culture across clubs must be a huge issue or huge priority.

Don’t want that Mrs Doubtfire tossbag anywhere near the joint.

For the sake of seeing another 10 minutes of Ratten's hard nipples, I for one hope he's not involved. Would rather him go around again in 2023 than have to put up with that to be honest.

I think everyone involved at Hawthorn during the 2013-2015 period will be contacted as part of the AFL’s forensic review.

It’s possible all sorts of nasty little skeletons could be dug up. A heard remark here, an observation there, an indifference to get involved which, with the benefit of hindsight, wasn’t appropriate.

Clarkson and Fagan (and potentially others) need complete exoneration, otherwise the stuck mud will force them from the game. But they must be afforded the basic right to vigorously refute anything that they believe is not true. The fact that they have not been afforded that opportunity when this has become public isn’t satisfactory.

This is a complete mess. And is desperately sad. I personally find the allegation about the abortion and separation from a partner deeply troubling and distressing. This stuff goes way beyond football.

I was taking the piss of course but yes, Clarkson's tenure produced a whole bunch of coaches across the league. This will involve almost all clubs I'd imagine.

Hawthorn
Brisbane
North Melbourne
St.Kilda
Richmond (Hardwick?)
West Coast (Simpson?)

I'm sure there's more

Just another step closer to proving how morally bankrupt some aspects of our great game have become.

I don't think anyone bar me pondered whether a Jewish kid may have been unknowingly administered the legal drug cerebrolysin (a pigs brain extract) during the saga. We and the AFL only cared if it was on the banned list. I always suspected mum may well have been 'Sarah' on 3aw.

None on here gave two shits when we delisted the Kiwi players after a couple of failed years on minimum bucks. Many on here haven't given two shits about Sandy (as a club).

It's win at almost all cost. Only now are we slowly waking up and questioning the 'whatever it takes' culture that I'm sure permeates all clubs.

Great that we have sought to heal the wounds with Robbie Muir, but awfully sad it took an earlier Russell Jackson piece for that to occur.

A sad day for AFL and will be interesting to see how it plays out given the names and clubs involved.

Yep if he didn't the heat would just go up and up.

At St Kilda we have Brett Ratten, David Rath, Jarryd Roughead and Darren O’Shaugnessy who were at Hawthorn during this period.
