The right result today, thankfully. What an absolutely embarrassing example of how a game should be adjudicated, but who is surprised at this point. Hawthorn won a lot of respect today in the face of the most amateur aspect of our game. Ruined what should have been a great end to a big weekend for the sport.

I think our form, although not having played any "top 8" teams, really stacks up. Hawks just beat Geelong who many have been saying are going to be there abouts this year. We smashed the Hawks.

Freo is sitting second on the ladder and though they were missing a couple of players we took care of them at home.

Don't want to get too excited after 5 rounds but if we can keep this up I think we'll be there at the pointy end.

Hawks play a great open brand of front running footy. Mitchell is coaching footy to be played the way we all say we want it played.......but then the umpires come in like a bunch of caged primates and smear their faeces all over the match to make it awful to watch.

Geelong were second to every contest and trying to play for frees and the umpires rushed to oblige. I hope that the twin imbecile that runs the umpiring doesn't **** with the ruling to encourage that shit again. Knowing those two they'll try to make the spectacle shit rather than what's best for the game to save face.

Hawks top 8, Freo 2nd on the ladder, beat Richmond and Gold Coast after they had big wins, and lost to Collingwood after we started slow and they were playing great footy. You can only win whats in front of us.

We've beaten sides but ones that are still around our level and unproven as well. We did get Freo very undermanned too but still a great win over there. As I've said before, it's not a bad year to be good because if you can be a bit better than average you could get to the very top of the ladder.

It's fine, Hawks aren't troubling anyone except the Cats at present and maybe the Blues, them winning just means even if we lose we just crash back to potentially even instead of dropping multiple places in a week. They'll likely lose next week anyway for the 8th spot to raffle some more, depends in Pies win yet another ANZAC match and how the Swans do.

This is true and also don't want to go overboard but v Freo we were missing Jones, Coff, Clark, Billings and Ryder. They are lucky we didn't win by more.

Different game, very different conditions to last week. Think Hawks are good but young and will get caught like last week.

You can only beat who you verse. Fact is that Freo and Hawks have been good this year. Richmond is Richmond, they were 20 points ahead of us halfway through the third.

I’m not saying we’re the best team but it’s definitely a one dimensional view to only critique wins against clubs who have been bad in recent history.

Not to mention when we really started our momentum eg last third of last year, we beat teams like Sydney and Brisbane at home whilst really challenged the cats twice. It’s just a lazy take from oppo supporters who only look at score lines.

The actual figures make no difference.
You need to look at every case to see if the free was there , was soft etc.

If the Cats take the heads off 10 Hawks, and give away free's, and Tom Hawkins dives ten times and gets frees

We've beaten sides but ones that are still around our level and unproven as well. We did get Freo very undermanned too but still a great win over there. As I've said before, it's not a bad year to be good because if you can be a bit better than average you could get to the very top of the ladder.

We were missing 5 starting 22 v Freo, why don't they get kudos for convincingly beating the team currently second when we had 25% of our best starting 22 out?
