Yeah but there’s also news around Brad Hill, who is contracted. He won’t go to North for peanuts.
Same thing though, whatever picks are being handed out are being given with everyone knowing what North are getting and likely the Clubs losing players half signing off on the trade already.

Given what Hill's getting paid, he's half a salary dump anyway, wont be more than Logue I dont think

Br
Logue was a top 10 pick with years of development in him . Sorry but I can't agree , They are horrible outcomes.
Logue choosing the Kangaroos is a disaster.
All well and good him saying he wants the best for the club but when the crunch comes him saying Sorry but I did my best will be cold comfort to Freo.
Brad Hill like stating he wanted to stay the whole time. Fake news was the IG post he put up before asking for a trade to Saints

You have a lot more faith in the AFL than I have snuff.
They don’t give a shit if Fremantle are shafted by North in the PSD.
Would be very different if it was a vic club of one of their pet projects up north.
That said, it won’t happen. I think we will get whatever PP north are given eventually.
Ideally the jackson trade is done early in week one of trade week. That’s what we want from out POV, before we get other currency in the door that the Dees set their beady eyes on in exchange for LJ

$3,500,000 over five years isn't quite enough to get band one compensation if he were a free agent, band one would be #14 for us this year, but he is two years younger and I think that's enough to make up for the shortfall in salary.

I think a pick around #10 to #15 is appropriate for Logue assuming he categorically takes the PSD off the table.
This is a really good summation Taylor. The only thing I would say is the fair compensation range (depending on PP granted by AFL) I believe is 14-20. We would say is our first pick 13/14 and Kangaroos would say F2 (which is likely 20/21).

If North end up being granted 11,20; then my proposal of:
14, Logue > 11, 20 is equivalent to Pick 16 according to draft points calculator

Add in a swap of F3 and F4 (in Kangaroos favour) and the pick value likely around 17.

Another alternative is 20 (Logue) & 57 (Tucker) which combined is also pick 16/17. In reality pick 57 will move forward a bit to between 47-53 with bid matching.

The free agent shit is a free kick for the established Melbourne clubs, and to a lesser extent Sydney.
What was Hawthorn's compensation for losing Buddy? It was a joke whatever it was, he is and was one of the best forwards the game has seen!

Just thinking a tad left field.

Dees into Grundy.

We lose Logue, Acres and others… maybe Lobb. Have some cash.

What value would it be if we gave up $500k for a year or 2 to effectively pay some of Grundy??

So without going into great detail or thought.

Would we give up pick 13 and say $500k over 2 years?? Would we even be allowed as Grundy ain’t anything to do with us? Could we work it in some stupid way to effectively give Melb or Pies cash???

It's a terrible look though, North getting priority picks and then not handing them over for players? Additionally, half of these trades get worked out before trade period even starts, the trade period is for the most part, about the show, getting clicks and keeping the AFL relevant after the GF.

Logue is not going PSD, I have absolutely zero concerns about that happening

Nothing surer he doesn’t. We aren’t stupid, we understand we have no leverage. Had this debate with a mate, if you screw a club over it will bite you back down the track.

I dont think Young cares tbh.

For example say Henry has a great season next year. Other clubs start circling. Guess who the club has to talk to when they want to table a contract.

It’s probably an unpopular opinion but I really dont believe in good-will trades.

But they clearly exist, otherwise why doesnt the bottom few teams walk a player through the PSD every year? Why didnt North walk CCJ through the PSD last year? It's a thing, I dont really understand how you can say "dont believe in good-will trades" when literally every bottom 4 club does a technical good will trade every year

Have to say I'm comfortable with North F2 for Logue. It'll be pick 20-22 in the end which is fair. Any end of first round PP this year is obviously better.

I wouldn’t have thought young would get involved too much now. He’s done his job in shafting everyone, now it’s up to the clubs to do a deal.

Well there’s a reason North continually suck every year.

Honestly though that’s a great point. Well played. I can only speculate.

The idea of a goodwill trade isn’t necessarily relevant to the two teams involved.

Say north take logue this year through the PSD, then next year finish above the crows and JHF is out of contract.

No one would feel sorry if the crows screwed north over, as they set the precedent
