Hawthorn should trade their 24 and 49 with GC for their 31 and 43 and then give us the 31. That’s about right for Meek imo.

GC will then have 24 and 25 and can deal with/trade some of their other second rounders if they need to offload some.

Hawthorn get Meek and move several spots up in the 3rd round.

We get a mid second.

Win-win-win.

EIGHT CLUBS CIRCLING DOCKERS RUCKMAN

“I think Meek is most likely to head to GWS where he’s going to jump from about $300,000 a year to about $600,000 a year and get a three or four year deal,” he said.

“GWS is the most likely, but Gold Coast, North Melbourne, Richmond, St Kilda and Geelong are all showing interest in Meek.

Meanwhile AFL Media reports Hawthorn and West Coast are also circling the big man as he weighs up his options.

Meek played six of his 15 AFL games for the Dockers in 2022.

Hagdorn (who is the one making the quotes above) with more absolute rubbish. So GWS are getting hit hard with players leaving to get more money elsewhere, and they will respond by putting a huge contract in front of a backup ruckman who is no better than Preuss and Flynn? How can this idiot even make this stuff up?

So who becomes depth from the current smalls? Or is he the depth?

Reckon Jai Serong would be a good addition for various reasons.

Probably depth early on, but I rate him, offers something the forward line doesn’t have.
Good cover if Switta misses and glass half full approach could be the Walters replacement.

No club is gonna trade a player in their first year just for the sake of it. Motlop and Serong have been mentioned on here. Not even a tiny chance it's even entertained

If Serong wanted to go home would you be happy with picks 14 and 32?
No wouldn't be happy, but it would make me question our list management and player development that he became a potential trade target.

I have the same questions with Logue:
  • Why wasn't he contracted earlier in the year? To me it tells the player we are not fully committed to him (and perhaps we weren't).
  • Why, after advertising that we would put players in the positions they perform best in, do we suddenly ride a different horse with a player and expect anything less than him looking for a trade?
I think the club has been quite happy to consider all of the players considering moving as trade bait. No point having a go at the likes of Lobb, Acres, Logue or Meek. Or even Young.

The club has a major role in all of this. It's a long way from the situation with Neale or Weller where the club was wrong footed.

He wasn't contracted earlier in the year because he had just been dropped and the club didn't know if it was worth keeping him or trading him. They couldn't predict that he would find firm so quickly after.

He wasn't played in his preferred position because there's no space for him there. There's 7 other guys that do the job better than him.

If he never got dropped earlier in the year he would've been signed on a lot sooner. But those few weeks of absolute shit football from him managed to secure him a 700k 5 year deal somehow.

Serong could actually be the exact same thing as both Neale and Weller.

The primary motivation for both Brisbane and Gold Coast was that their commitment to paying a big deal player for them was no longer required and they have surplus cash to provide the incentive for the move. Dayne Beams for Brisbane and Gary Ablett Jnr for Gold Coast, both desired and budgeted for the following season by their clubs.

Hawthorn is looking at moving out Tom Mitchell. If the Hawks suddenly found themselves looking to spend $2.5m over the next two years and then throwing a further four years at $875,000 on the end Caleb Serong would be presented with an offer of six years for $6,000,000.

He has to take that deal.

Sam Edmond suggesting Logue to PSD again… bloody lazy journo

Honestly, if that's the way it lands then whatever.

It just goes to show that if it eventuates hes not the guy we all seemed to think he is and as a club we are better without him.

AFL media was better off without this guy. Considering the overall lack of quality of AFL media it's some achievement to stand out as the worst.

I guess all good things come to an end.
Colin Young must be leaning on him big time to try to change the narrative of Lobb (and himself) being money-hungry grubs to problems at Fremantle and people wanting out.
