That’s why we are not trading him.

In our stage of development, a mid-late third round pick is useless.A third round pick for Acres is a joke. I don't understand why we let him go, I watched our finals game against the bull dogs and he was really prominent.
He's been really super this year and is only 26 yo and I think he has finally hit his peak and found his place on the field. He is so good overhead and his kicking is generally really good, can kick a goal too. 189cm tall ,big body ,tackles well ,huge tank, runs both ways ,he looked to be really hitting his straps and would have been great for us for the next 4 or so years at least.
It just doesn't make sense ,I'd rather him then Logue to be honest and Logue too ,we should have kept as an important swingman, they are rare and a really good thing to have.
Not sure what they are doing at the club but if these players were not that important in their eyes ,why are all the eastern states clubs going after them with really good contracts, Carlton needed a wingman , so we just said here ,we'll give you Acres ,we have shaped him and he's now an A grade wingman. Now we have a big hole to fill, doesn't make sense.
Apart from Jackson, who is the other target?I heard garlic say last week, that we have positioned ourselves very well with tpp to attack this years trade period aggressively.
I know Young plays games but Bell is playing with a straight bat.Young is doing very very well to make this look like we re indeed clearing the decks for Jackson.
It’s all about hand.Feel like this is going to be a painful trade period for us. The cumulative worth of the players leaving based on their experience/position is a lot more valuable to us than their market value separately, and Jackson’s market value is a lot higher than his current worth.
Hope the club knows what they’re doing. If Bell can wield a win or even a break-even here we need to build a statue.
The reason we were low balling both Logue and Acres is because we were offering huge $$ to Angus plus whatever we were offering Jackson, we nearly had him but Melbourne offered additional years to beat our offer and he miraculously started playing midfield again once he signed on with them. There’s a reason acres and Logue were low balled with there offers mid way though the year. I mightn’t be 900 but would have to be close
Counterpoint: I heard some random journo on trade radio say that everyone is leaving to fit Jackson in. Get better sources CTD...I heard garlic say last week, that we have positioned ourselves very well with tpp to attack this years trade period aggressively.
Meh. I want to be bullish (he was good at the u18 champs as an underager) but the lack of contested game puts him in the likely to fail category to me.is Anyone bullish or "meh" about Sharp. I didnt realise he was in the system for so long. Also his under18 highlights didnt get me excited at all

Once Angus was out of the picture we upped our offer to Logue and added a year to the Acres offer but it was too little too late. We now have the Angus $$ available to enable us to hold firm on Lobb and bring in Jackson.
Alternatively if the dogs stump up enough in a trade to change our mind (15 with something going back) then we have the $$ to attempt to lure someone else.
Seriously the melts about us cooking the list are priceless, have faith everyone.
I'd still say Jackson is on big coin...The reason we were low balling both Logue and Acres is because we were offering huge $$ to Angus plus whatever we were offering Jackson, we nearly had him but Melbourne offered additional years to beat our offer and he miraculously started playing midfield again once he signed on with them.

I think our systems, players are creating a winning environment.Jon Ralph is pretty strong that Jeremy Sharp will “find his way to the dockers” in the HS this morning
Pies did not think Aish was rubbish. He was firmly b22 at the Pies during that good run.I think our systems, players are creating a winning environment.
Only Hogan was a bust, others have had their best year.
Pies thought Aish was rubbish, same for Acres, Brodie, Colyer.
Sharp has the height, 187cm, speed and stamina to be better.
I’d back us in to find another player
Interesting who has left that has excelled, besides Langdon who in my eyes
was already very good?
I'm busting a gut not to be triggered and commence a tyrannical rant of epic proportions.
Acres was directly involved in at least two of our good wins.. I remember distinctly he came out at halftime and went berzerk in a third term..Meh, I'm still trying to recall one game where either Logue or Acres was the difference between winning and losing. Sure Acres played some decent footy but he's no match winner.
As for the others, we wold you trade them unless we win the trade?
3rd quarter vs hawks right before he did his hammy he was single handedly keeping us in the gameI don't remember Acres ever going "berzerk" in a quarter
Joel Selwood retirement? Now they are saying Geelong is looking to get pick 7 from Gold Coast by taking on Jack Bowes $800k contract next year.
How the actual * is that possible?? How can the cats do that and stay under the cap??
Losing Acres and Logue who are both solid AFL players and WA boys to Melbourne clubs seems on the surface to be madness. Inside knowledge at the club must be accounted for. Perhaps knowing the battles Acres has had with softness is why the club had performance clauses in his contract.
Sharp has the potential to surpass Acres with the right coaching in his home environment. He is a very quick, goal kicking wingman.
Overall our team will be better off if those on the inside with all the knowledge have made the right call.
Tom Hawkins possibly retiring according to Nat Edwards.Joel Selwood retirement?
Bowes, 7 > F1
So those two free up what? 600k? And they want to bring in bruhn and Henry too. No way they can afford Bowes too...Tom Hawkins possibly retiring according to Nat Edwards.
