His wing spot is the most contentious in the whole team if you ask me.
There are definitely a few pushing and if he doesn’t start the year well, then he may find himself playing VFL.
Which we all know, he would not like, so he will be doing all he can to hold down his spot in the team.
For me I think the ceiling of our team is higher with one of the younger guys with better skills taking his spot. Personally I think Prior brings the same big body and contested side of the game however is far better offensively and skills wise. I think Robbo will start the season but we have a few guys that could take over his spot.

Michael Carter one of these guys?

Just a question for you.. Do you know much about the Brisbane VFL players?

AhChee, Prior and Dev would be 3 that immediately come to mind.
But then you have the bolter from last year in Harry Sharp who is back fit again, Madden could play wing if he misses out on a spot in defense and Ely Smith who would love nothing more than to get a game, new boys Wilmot and Lohmann could slot into a wing position.
There is lots of boys that could play the role.

Starcevich’s tackle from the intraclub.

looks like Will Fletcher, one of the top up players.

Have heard elsewhere he is a smoky to take CEY vacant list spot as a mature age midfielder.

Would need to get much fitter from what I saw on Friday!

Pretty sure the one that was nailed was Jaspa Fletcher, a f/s and academy member not able to be drafted till the next draft.

I will add J Berry to that list also. He looks to have gained some pace
However i don't see Wilmot and Lohmann getting a run early in the year
Great to see some genuine competition for spots in a team that finished top 4 the last 3 years

With or without Robbo in the team I believe Bez will be in the team anyway and will be on the wing at times which is why I didn’t include him in the list.
Was only including blokes that are still fighting for positions in the team.
I don’t see Bez in that position personally, I know some may not agree.

I'm pretty sure it's Will Fletcher, one of our VFL top ups, comes from Sherwood in the QAFL, and has been one of the best QAFL players in the last couple of years.

If so my bad, thought he looked a bit like Jaspa and heard someone calling “Fletch” which would make sense now.

So the TAB had the Lions at $8 to win the Premiership - I've invested. Anyone else gone this early?
Massive punter I am, I went a tenner on it. Then, like the chicken I am, I went each way - a tenner at $2 on the top 4 :D

I thought it was Henry Smith that got speckied on by Rayner.
It kinda looks like Oscars upper half, but it really doesn’t look like his legs.
And it’s too unclear to see his face.
So without being there live it’s pretty hard to tell.

Are they any good compare to Vic teams VFL top ups?
There has been a bit of a theory about Queensland players for years. Up here we certainly have some great juniors but our guys finished school a year before drafting so only have club footy for a year where the Victorians still have school and club in that year before drafting. With our guys out of the school system there seems to be a drop off once out of the day to day routine and structure the Victorian's have and for those at the private schools the training and professionalism around the school's program. In short the Queenslanders are 'late bloomers' where once on a list they take a bit longer to get into the process than the kids from the other states. Once we were discussing Sherwood they are in the QAFL the Queensland second division competition there would be no full time players in that competition, all would have jobs so it's probably called park footy. But players do get recruited from there to the AFL, rarely but it does happen. The best kids in Qld will generally be in the Lions and Suns academy and they are the ones that get drafted. Then there are some kids playing and trialing with Southport and Aspley from teams like Sherwood and the odd one will get a run. I think its a bit like comparing chalk and cheese really, but you might say our younger top us are probably not as good as Victorian ones just because our process to the AFL is as good and we have a more even speed of sporting choices all chasing talented kids. Once in the process Queenslanders are just as good as any other states.
