Anyone heading to Zillmere today?
Might try and get there, is it 4pm again for anyone that knows.
I intend to go.
Not sure if i will take photos today. May just watch
According to ZillmereEaglesJAFC facebook page it is 4pm-7pm with bar and canteen open

I went along. Not too much to report that's different from before. A few new things. Zorko played back. Answerth and Ah Chee played wing / hff. Eli Smith played onball for the Probables. Cockatoo not particularly prominent but didn't go onball much that I saw. No JL.

Just home from the intraclub. Have a few things to do.
All i will post at the moment is the A team for quarter 1
Not sure what the colored "M&M's" on the board mean
This may start some discussion
Eli Smith played mid for Maroon team for 4 quarters. Went okay
Zorko half back for 1 half then off. He went okay but not much opposition
He was walking okay when leaving field after half time but had a weird thick bandage on left foot
Answerth on wing went okay. Back to halfback last quarter.
Three quarter time score Maroon 94 v Yellow 16

The magnets look like typical sub groups to me. Yellow off the bench replaces yellow on the field.

Yep they are group rotations, Cam Rayner said in todays interview that he and Zac Bailey have been working on rotating through fwd/mid, didn't say it specifically but it sounded like the players make the decision as to when to rotate, Fages empowering the players again, gotta love it.

The green marker next to Clugga is the interesting one. A wildcard of sorts, to rotate into any of HF, Wing or Mid? Or perhaps we were effectively playing 7 defenders/ 5 forwards with Clugga playing as an attacking wing/ mid.

Not long been home, met a mate there and spent a lot of time talking so can only offer casual observations. Rayner really stood out to me, he's built like a brick outhouse when you see him up close. He had a few spirited clashes with Prior and young Berry.

We were in front of the canteen on the wing when Matho called out to his team mates to kick it you c@#$ was waiting for a kick down the line and was clearly frustrated.

Was shocked to see how muscular Noah Answe
rth appeared had remembered him as being quite lean.

Have a great weekend all. 😀

Wildcard makes sense as he's the one that would spend a decent amount on the wing (yellow group) and through the middle (blue group).

Rayner will take the competition apart this year. Looks like Rich may have a hammy or some such. Madden injured too (?). Next week at The Burp.
encouraging to hear Cam going well after last year. I am a little interested in where Payne played if it was forward for the B team, I would assume the ball did not get down his end too often. Going off last years semi against the dogs, and according to reports played forward last week, If he played forward again this week, I reckon he is a reasonably good chance to be in the 22 while Hippy is out. I am also interested in how Dev went? Did he play for the A's? Hope Dev went well

It was a very one sided affair today.
Score was 120-22 with about 2 mins to go when they re-set the score board to 130-120 with the yellows in front for game scenario stuff but the game ended before any further scores.

Zorko played the first 2 quarters and started the game in defence, Noah Answerth started on the wing.
AhChee started up forward for the Senior team.
Dev Rob might have been being managed, trained before hand but didn’t take part in the match sim.

Pretty sure Zorko re-aggravated the Achilles when doing a few run throughs after he come off at half time.
I was right near the bench and heard him say that he felt a pop.

Daniel Rich come off not long after with a bit of a calf issue, only seemed quite minor though.

Didn’t see Madden come off.

Cam Rayner spent much less time in the middle today but spent most of the time in the forward line. Took 2 really good marks and kicked 2 goals from those marks all within about a minute.

Bailey is looking red hot and could be anything.

I thought Ely Smith fit in really well in the maroon team today got a fair bit of the ball and used it well, tackled hard, turned it over once that I saw.

Dev trained but did not play, he was the runner. Being managed I would suspect.

Payne played forward for the Y team and kicked a goal, but yes limited opportunities.

Remember him kicking a goal, but it was a gimme, got a 50m penalty and was not far out.

The yellow team only kicked 3 goals, though they jacked it up to 19 goals to give them a 10 point lead with about 5 mins left. Intensity lifted but the underdogs held on for a hollow victory

The wing player obscured is Prior
Fullarton did play in defense most of the time that i noticed. Did not look out of place in a side getting thrashed
Also Lester & Sharp played in the Maroon team the last quarter. Possible a little earlier.
Payne played mostly forward and had Andrews & Adams to contend with. Took a few marks and kicked a nice goal into the wind. Looked much better than the previous week. Also later did a little ruck work and was okay
Thought Wilmot looked more settled today
A few other guys showed glimpses of their potential in the Yellow team but not sure who they were .

So . . . Hippy, Lyons, Dev Rob, Blake Coleman and Carter Michael didn't play?

Also no Wylie Buzza - thought he might get a run?

Anyone else?

Thanks Section 5, i suspect they will give Payne a run in the forward line and relieving ruck in one or two of the trial games. I think you may have mentioned this earlier in the year, that Payne is a chance of being in the best 22 playing forward whilst Hippy is out. The trial games will reveal more. Just had a look on the Lions webpage and Payne weighs 105kg so solid enough to do some relieving ruck work.

Interesting that Fullarton played back, I think Fullarton and Payne forward, might at least give Andrews and co, a little bit of competition in a match sim, although sounds like the B team midfield got smashed. Would not mid seeing Fullarton and Payne on the same team as the A team midfield with Harris and Adams marking them.
