Ah my favourite time of year -

Just a reminder these guys out of contract.

We have 34 signed up already for next year, and we need to draft 3. Amazing how the AFL hasn't let us known what the list cuts would be yet.

Wouldn't be surprised to see some delisted on Monday.

Oleg Markov - Provides speed and energy off half back, hasn't locked down a role. Would be nice on the rookie list - Keep 1 year

Josh Corbett
- Strong overhead mark, not as flexible as our other forwards, would suit another side - Delist

James Tsitas
- 1 half game, good for the VFL side, won't get another chance again - Delist

Izak Rankine
- Don't need to say much but Izak - Keep for 4 years/Trade

Chris Burgess
- Frosty Medallist, dominated the VFL season, should sign up again as he provides flexibility both ends. - Keep 1 year

Levi Casboult
- Seems to be cooked, maybe 1 more year on the rookie list if there is a spot, would be a good back up plan for Ben to recover - Keep 1 year

Bodhi Uwland
- Unseen because of a back injury, rated in the 2nd round of the draft, keep on the rookie list - Keep 1 year

Charlie Constable
- If he is keen to be a cheap back up, thats fine, rookie list again - Keep 1 year

Oskar Faulkhead
- Has some AFL Traits, smooth mover, hopefully done enough to get a spot - Keep 1 year

Rhys Nicholls
- Hasn't showned much as a defender or a midfielder - Delist

Patrick Murtagh
- Still very raw yet to breakout in the VFL - Delist

Jez Mclennan
- Rookied this year, hasn't shown anything as a full time midfielder - Delist

Hewago Oea
- Few games from Ace this year, Fast and provides pressure just needs to improve his one touch football - Keep 2 years

Matt Conroy
- Recovering from an ACL shared ruck duties with Moyle, now the 4th choice ruck, could re-rookie - Delist

Don’t know the numbers but would agree with all of this.
I’d probably give burgess 2 years to keep him.

The Suns could really shape the trade period this year.

We could easily have picks 6, 9, and 12/13 + other later picks we don't trade to Brisbane. And the $650k + of salary set aside for Rankine. In theory this SHOULD be plenty to attract a good player and convince their club to trade.

Looking at the players still available Dunkley and Logue look the most appealing, either would make a huge difference to the side. Whether they want to come to the GC is another matter of course.

The other priority is accruing 2023 points as there could be bids on 3 players. Given the list squeeze you'd think we don't want to use 3 first rounders this year. It's going to be interesting to see what happens.

I would be signing Conroy on a 5 year deal for 500k a season his a gun

Suns should be targeting some under rated players in the big teams.
Someone like gryan miers from the cats..

Plays like a Rankine up along the wings.. gets involved a lot going inside 50.
And hits the scoreboard.

Only problem is.. he is a Geelong boy playing in Geelong.

Probably on poo change down there though with so many stars in the team

Like the idea of getting Brisbane first, and if we have crows first I'd be happy to put those 2 picks on the table to see what we can dig up. Use our first on Olli hollands. If we cant find an a grader with either those picks wouldn't mind getting west coast or nth Melbourne involved and target pick 1 or 2 (2,3)
West Coast seem keen to take Hewett, wa lad who will probably still be there at 5 anyway.
North have pick 1 then nothing until pick 55 I think.
Pick 5 and 12 for pick 1 or 2.
We still get hollands and also maybe wardlaw who I think will be a superstar. Both players could easily start their careers at half back or wing which helps fill that gap also. Use some later picks to gamble on a tall or 2.
Trade fiorini and maybe Flanders or bowes as they would become surplus to our needs ( if they aren't already)

Definitely a lot of options with 3 first rounders.

I'm not sure Wardlaw is worth trading up for, multiple hamstring injuries is a worry. I'd take a KPD (Hayes or Buss), Hollands and then trade the other pick into 2023.

That's if we can't trade in an a grader. Freo in particular will need a pick to help get Jackson, just be a matter of convincing Logue - who would immediately be our best defender.

Don't worry about the hammys we traded hollands with an acl, sometimes you take that risk for the reward. Wardlaw is a gun, his attack on the ball and player offensive and defensive is touk miller like.

Cameron doesn’t take the logical pick though..
He’ll find a unicorn to back
I've liked his selections the last few drafts personally. Flanders turned out to be shit but I liked the selection at the time.

North posters on their board seem quite keen to split pick 1 for multiple first rounders as they already have so many young mids and would like a couple first rounders to target some key position prospects such as Busslinger, Cadman, Jefferson ect. If the Suns traded up to pick 1 and drafted Wardlaw the Suns midfield would be insane! Miller, Rowell, Anderson, Hollands and Wardlaw. All five of them are powerful, contested beasts. Scary proposition for other clubs. I couldn't think of another midfield in the comp the Suns couldn't match with that group.
