We should ring Josh Dunkley. Sounds like he might be moving to Qld.

Would even be change left over.

Shai Bolton is my man.

Absolute game winner with clearances or goals..

Unstoppable.

Can see nosey and Rowell feeding him the ball on the outside, running to 50 and slotting it halfway up the post

Bolton won't leave Richmond in his prime unfortunately.

Caro said on Footy Classified that he has family in Queensland and could be open to the move here. Is this the moment we pull off a big coup and bring in a seriously good footballer who is about to enter his prime years (25 now)? This would be our version of Lachie Neale being traded to Brisbane.

I think we'd all be ecstatic if we traded out Fiorini and Sexton to get Dunkley in for about the same spend. Like a previous poster pointed out, we might even save money if we get Dunkley in and let Fiorini + Sexton go. I'm sure we can offer Dunkley more than the Lions who are supposedly also in the running to land him.

Until the Suns have a set of huge balls and go all in on a couple of A graders it’ll be hard to challenge the very top teams.

U need to be in it to win it.. unfortunately we’re always pretty quiet and average when it comes to trading..

For one reason or another…
I understand players supposably don’t want to come here to play yet want to come here to relax and live post football

We managed to poach the best player in the comp Gary Ablett jr at one stage..
So it is possible..

Money talks..

Only thing the Lions have is they are much more likely to make finals next year.

I'd argue with Dunkley in our midfield and a decent run with injuries we are very likely to make finals too. But he would improvement almost every team, blokes a gun. Just let him hunt the ball with Rowell, and feed it to Miller and Anderson 😍

We have the picks to get the deal done too.

Why you think we are not in it? Or do you really believe that the club does not try? You got to convince players to come. Not playing finals does not help. But to think that for some reason the club does not try is really naive, IMO.

Guilty as charged.

Our list management team just don’t seem to be shrewd enough I guess..

I could be wrong..

With North u hear every year they go after the biggest names available, yes it hasn’t really come off.

But atleast u see what there trying to achieve.

I’d love for the club to come out and go we are going all out for Max King or Dunkley or the bont etc

But we come out and say we want Heppell or Jj or long 😏

Are we getting extra salary cap again?
We sure are.
It’s called the broadcast rights deal..
Salary cap will be booming next couple years.

Tbh we are a average middle of the road team with a fairly maxed out salary cap.

Make some big list calls.. and fix your mistakes.
Don’t smooth your mistakes out over the next 2-3 years

I’m just reading the room.

Do you trade out Fiorini and pick 25 and his 500k salary for a future third Rd pick?

Do you trade out Sexton and pick 33 and his 500k salary and get a future third back again?

I don’t know the answers but these would be deals I’d be considering so I could try and dangle a million dollar carrot infront of someone this trade period
Your Dunkley for instance.

Be left with 4 , 5. , 32 ,43 and 51 to make something happen.

Could even trade a future first for Dunkley if next years draft a supposed super draft.

If Jed Walter as good as ppl say we’d lose out first Rd pick to cover his points total anyway

I think it's because they're trying to be more realistic.

North have gone after every big name in the AFL yet they're last on the ladder.
Hawthorn neglected the draft and went after Tom Mitchell and O'Meara and sit below us on the ladder.
Essendon spent big on Dylan Shiel and Jake Stringer and are a complete basket case.
Carlton went out and got Adam Cerra, Mitch McGovern, Adam Saad, Jack Martin and didn't even play finals.
St Kilda got Brad Hill, Brad Crouch, Dan Hannebery and failed to make finals this year.

We can go after big names but what's the point? They aren't coming to us so why waste time? We can offer them all the money in the world, then what? Shai Bolton is a great player but we shouldn't be risking losing Rowell, Anderson and Ben King to get him.

Melbourne & Sydney have completely built there list off of the draft with top ups along the way. The list managers clearly think we have the core to take the next step and are looking for top ups to help.

Sexton will likely stay, not a lot of likely suitors.

A team will likely give us a 2nd for Fiorini and pay his contract out.

Last year we gave away Brodie and 19? I believe

Just to lose his 500k salary
Fiorini has played 3 times the amount of games Brodie had at the suns. Fiorini has also had consistency at AFL level and has shown he has what it takes to be an AFL player, as good as Brodie may have been he never showed that. Fiorini is a much better player than Brodie, he's just not as good as Anderson, Swallow, Rowell or Miller.

Lots of correct comments here.

Then you have Geelong who continues to add top end mature talent the past 15years and barely touch the draft.

And Richmond look to be giving away all there draft capital this year and possibly some of next year to rebuild there midfield.

He only played 14 games this year..
And 10 last year..
No one’s paying us a second Rd pick for someone we play mostly in the VFL.

They might, only if we pay 200-300k of his salary…

But your defeating the purpose by doing that one would think.

Geelong is a completely different beast. Their location helps them a lot as well as they pretty much have an under 18's feeder club in the Geelong Falcons.

Richmond built their 2017 side off of the draft, Martin, Riewoldt, Rance, Cotchin, Grimes. Then topped up with Prestia. Richmond is now in a bit of an awkward situation where they don't know whether they're rebuilding or reloading. Bringing in Hopper and Taranto makes it seem like they're reloading, we'll have to see if this actually works.

Salary is not issue. Collingwood would spread his salary over 2-3 years. Freo did the same with Brodie.
