It looks like a lot of players will be changing clubs. Even some finals teams are losing players they would like to keep. We better get used to it. That's the future.

Rankine loss sucks but we can compensate and it gives us 5% cap space to play with.

As for mentioned Fiorini, Sharp, Flanders - nothing official from the club yet and it's up to us what we really want to do as they are under contract.

Probably good idea to part ways with Fiorini for both sides. It could be also salary dump.

Flanders seems happy and committed.

Sharp depends if the club sees future in him. Sure he has talent, but displayed some poor efforts. I have no sympathy for him is he is sulking because of not playing regularly.

Burgess, Corbett are just depth players for us. We can't blame them leaving if some other teams show interest. I would prefer to keep Burgess.

Personally, I am more optimistic about Long. He is a tough, pressure player, got some speed. Let's see how he goes at HB. Another Holman-type hard nut could be handy. It's about time somebody got suspended on our team :p

What’s everyone’s thoughts on who we’re using on pick 5 if we get it?

Humphrey? McKenzie? Clark? Someone else?
ofc we have to take Busslinger at 7 though

Seen recently Humphrey video highlights. Impressive. Inside, outside, forward, speed.

We are developing Andrew and Brock as KPD, Graham got 4 year extension so he is in our plans too. Do we really need to draft Busslinger? Another 2 talls are coming next year - Walter, Reid, with Reid could be groomed as KPD too.

I think we do. Collins was poor to end the year and Ballard is coming back from injury. Love Mac but he is incredibly raw and has a long long way to go. We all know Caleb, Brock is also long ways off. Busslinger would be able to play round 1.

I like your optimism about Busslinger but he looks like a stick too if I remember correctly. I bet Andrew with another pre-season will be ahead of him round 1. Brock showed a lot of improvement in first 2 VFL finals games too. I better check Busslinger's highlights.

Just checked. Busslinger looks bloody good, decent body too. I am sold :p

I just think there are some massive question marks over Jed Busslinger in terms on health. He's 18 and has both shoulders already heavily strapped, that's not a good sign from an 18-year-old key defender looking to play AFL. I think any team looking to draft him may have to sit him in the 2nds to let him grow into AFL. He's already missed half of the season due to his shoulder injuries so far.

I agree he's a good fit for the suns though, but he won't play round 1 because of this.

I believe he had already shoulder surgery recently.

Who are they?
Wouldn't be reading into the money yet, the only person who has said the amount is Cooper on his Facebook page. All we know that it's apparently 4 years, guessing it's 3 with a trigger for a fourth. Can't imagine the money is much seeing as it was us and North chasing him.

Yeah scoops did and exclusive saying he was going to North Melbourne for 3 years on 600k a year…. He also had that exclusive that Lukosius had requested a trade back to SA.. the guy is an absolute muppet yet people believe and fall for his rubbish

Busslinger is supposed to be the best KPD talent in a while according to folks on the BF draft board

The only people that believe him are the people that aren’t banned yet ;)

He’ll be making up hugely overblown figures to make it seem like st kilda were doing the right thing in letting him go.

There saying Long’s deal is 4 years at 450-500k

🥴

No no no no no.
This post and others that have questioned the Ben Long situation reminds me sooooo much of last year when it was announced that we had secured Mabior Chol by offering him a four-year deal on $400k a year. They said we gave Chol too many years, they said we overpaid for Chol, they said Chol was nothing more than a fringe player, they questioned his ability to play a full season etc etc.

Would anyone in their right mind say that about Chol now? The answer is clearly no. Mabs played all 22 games this year and kicked a remarkable 44 goals in his debut season for us. Now we're all excited about Chol's future with us as he enters his prime years and $400k a season for the next three years seems like an absolute steal. You could even go as far as to say Chol was the recruit of the year in 2022!

Now I'm not saying Long is going to have the same impact as Chol did this year but the point I'm trying to make is that sometimes a change of scenery can make all the difference for a player. There's been so many examples of this over the years like Lincoln McCarthy, Dan Butler, Will Brodie etc.

Give Long a chance to prove his worth before you trash a deal that you have no way of knowing whether it'll turn out to be a good one like Chol.

Hey guys just seeking some info on sharp.

I see he was drafted at 11. He obviously hasn't lived up to that has he?

What would you guys be chasing in a trade?

Drafted at 27

We traded our future mid first Rd pick 11 plus a pick in the forth Rd to get cats 27 to snare him.

He has played some great games.. and some not so good games.
He is a 21 yr old wingman who up until this year the team was very average at best.

I’d like to think.. with him being contracted and plenty of upside ahead we’d want a pick in the 20-30 range. Otherwise he can wait for 2023

Yeah right copy that, thanks for the reply! Playing as an outside player is always easier in a better side like you said, and maybe he had a poor year this year due to sooking about going home.

Hopefully we get a pick from either Logue or Acres that can satisfy that.

Cheers mate
