I’m still amazed that the vast majority of pundits don’t understand the concept of what the club is doing or have any understanding of why we have decided to take this approach.

All they see is pick 7 and bowes.
What astounds me is people don't want to admit Geelong has no interest in Bowes-he's just the VFL embossed steak knives with the real prize which is pick 7

My intial reaction was rage but starting to understand the mechanics. Whilst I could blame the list managers for causing these fringe players to have high salaries it is becoming increasingly obvious that expansion clubs need a retention allowance until they have an established winning record and culture. We aren't playing the same game as Geelong, Richmond but have the same rules which means we will never be able to compete without being absolutely best in the AFL at list management.

Second to this, it's an absolute joke that draftee contracts aren't 3 years at minimum.

You're probably assuming they are being fair and balanced in their reporting. Rather than just trying to get nuffies fired up with "Fold Coast" nonsense.

This and having to pay the 95% pretty much guarantees that mistakes will get made.

Dockers need to chill with the pot shots at the Suns on social. *******s.
Yeah, I’m a fan of Simpsons related comedy bites. But I don’t think a social media team attached to the club should post that when it is clearly a dig a the Suns.

Now if they posted that after all their trades were done this year, and included any player from this trade period, then sure. That way it’s not aimed at a club, but rather simply celebrating their acquisitions in a funny way.

Also, it’s factually incorrect. Homer should have been paid to eat the Brodie ribwich, or at least got it for free…

PIES YOUNGSTER ON SUNS' RADAR

GOLD Coast is looking at out-of-contract Collingwood wingman Caleb Poulter ahead of next Wednesday night's trade deadline.

The 19-year-old played 11 games in his debut season last year after being selected with pick No. 30 in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft, but managed only one appearance in 2022 due to standout seasons by Steele Sidebottom and Josh Daicos.

The Suns have already landed Ben Long from St Kilda and Tom Berry from Brisbane, but have sent Josh Corbett to Fremantle and are set to lose Izak Rankine to Adelaide and Jack Bowes to Geelong, with Brayden Fiorini also a chance to land at Collingwood.

There is a chance Poulter could be included in a deal for Fiorini if the Magpies complete that order of business, but it is understood the clubs aren't close to finalising a deal for the Sun yet.

One issue Gold Coast is facing is how many list spots they'll have left by the end of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

Poulter is from Adelaide and played for Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL, but neither South Australian club is believed to be in the market for him.

While Collingwood is yet to put an offer on the table for Poulter, there is a chance it will offer him a deal for 2023 after the Trade Period. – Josh Gabelich

He's a good kid.

Is Poulter any good? Never noticed him. Swear I recall a Pies fan saying he is pretty average.
If average players want to come for average wages, that’s fine. Replace the big spenders in the VFL while still providing depth.

We just can’t afford to over-pay for depth though. So if people are happy to come to try and earn a spot/lifestyle, then come on up.

Can't relate.
Yeah, yeah me either.

He has some developing to do. Needs a couple more pre-seasons in the gym to put more muscle on. But played well last year. Has had some really good games in the VFL this year as well.
There was this one passage of play I think it was v swans, up the wing, he just ran and ran and had about 10 touches in about 10 seconds.

Just watched a bunch of his tape and not sure what to make of him. Do like the 193-195cm wingmen though.

He isn't even 20yo so if he is coming on peanuts I have zero issue. He has some talent.
