Finally something to help everyone move past the Weller trade
If we sign Matt Crouch I'll need my own moaning thread. Or the far king Barometer. Jesus wept."~Pick 52 for Bowes and Pick 7 must be close to the single worst trade in history. Followed by:
- Pick 11 for Pick 27 (GC to Geelong);
- Pick 2 for Lachie Weller (GC to Fremantle):
- Pick 21, Pick 26, Pick 37 and 20 for 18 and 50 (GC betting on West Coast to slide the year they win a Premiership)
Fold the basket case."
Common theme across the internet.
Jeez - if not Jed Anderson, we simply MUST get a couple of cheap delisted / fringe model pro's across the line.
Blokes who want to play.
I was chatting with GC2015 (and he's a really good guy as well) - we have shifted Rankine, Bowes, Corbett, probably Fiorini and Sharp plus delisted another 4
Plenty of cap room for a couple of cheap model pro's.
36 hrs to make a move. We really do need 2 more solid bodies in the door.
Dow, Stocker, Frost, Mathieson, Phillips, Deven Robertson, Blakely, X.O'Halloran Shiels, Naish even Matt Crouch if Adelaide chip in 50%.
There are literally dozens of proven AFL players who are just missing a chance.
But I'm sure the usual clique will chime in with 'not good enough for the mighty GCS'
Cooper Stephens is about 9th in the picking order at Geelong - I'd bet we didn't even ask about him coming up.
We took a future 3rd instead.
We fall away so badly outside our starting mids, it will hurt us badly next year if we get a single injury. Can't expect Flanders and Constable to go toe-to-toe with Oliver and Petracca.
We simply need 2 more experienced cheap tough mids before Wednesday 5pm.
Getting really hard to defend us at work at the moment.
We try to do any deal from a position of supplication - and get the expected result.
If we don't make finals next season - we will struggle to retain some players, let alone attract them.
I'm not alone surely in thinking we need to change some off-field staff as well as on-field.
Come on Craig - there are some gems in the rough there if you are brave enough.
We should be all over this, if for no other reason than messing with Brisbane and making them pay full price.Steal Dunkley from Brizzy since they are having a stale mate with the dogs. Would be a great pick up. Surely they would be in his ear.
You don't think if Adelaide paid 50% - the Crouch at $300,000 PA isn't worth it for the relief he will give Matt Rowell? If we sign Matt Crouch I'll need my own moaning thread. Or the far king Barometer. Jesus wept.
If we sign Fat Crouch I would fly up to Gold Coast and take a s**t on the Cochs front step
He can't get a game for the ****ing Crows.Another one of the 'Not Good enough for the mighty Gold Coast' team?
A 27 yr old All-Australian who averages 30 touches over a 130 game career isn't good enough to take the grunt work role from Matt Rowell to improve his game, and by default our best 22.
With Crows paying 50% of salary.
Righto.
We have more than enough talent to make finals this year. I agree someone to crash and bash would be useful but the answer isn't Matt Crouch. Jed Anderson on a cheapish deal could be the answer. You don't think if Adelaide paid 50% - the Crouch at $300,000 PA isn't worth it for the relief he will give Matt Rowell?
If we keep making Matty do the bash+crash he will be cooked well before his time.
Swallow can't anymore (knees) and Greenwood is gone.
Who else can step up?
There really isn't anyone we haven't tried except Constable, but despite being drafted by Dew, Dew won't play him.
Someone needs to play the role that Rowell is currently doing, so we can see the MR of the first season.
If that's Matt bloody Crouch at $300,000 PA - so be it.
On full salary - I agree - no.
But at 50% off - why the hell not.
It's not like players are coming in by the coach-load. Thomas, Wingard, Will Day and a couple of others were approached in our usual half-hearted effort. One rebuffal, and walk away.
Bloody Tarryn Thomas CALLED US!!
Ben Long is the only one any good so far. We need 2 more in the door who are tough accumulators. If one is Crouch so be it.
'Crouch isn't good enough for Gold Coast' - and that's why we have never been higher than 11th in our existence, despite the AFL giving us every concession under the sun.
Not aimed at you Maybe Tomorrow - but we won't make finals with the current 'best 22' - too many injuries, too many out, not enough re-enforcements.
Long and Ben King will help - but we need more.
Honest question.
Look at Hawthorn bottoming right out. Probably bottom 2 next year.
Total rebuild.
Who do you think will be higher in the ladder in 3 yrs time.
3 yrs more development with their draft picks, all front-ended contracts finished, and sitting 10th / 11th in 2024 and will be a destination club for a couple of A-Graders.
Hawthorn have had to front-end contracts for the last 6 yrs to scrape into the 95% of cap.
Look at who walked away or were given away in the last 6 years from us. We should have played finals 5 yrs ago.
I'm joining Ben Drever on suicide watch
He can't get a game for the ******* Crows.
A team we beat comfortably.
He isn't good enough, he isn't a contested ball machine, he a sideways accumulator type player the game has gone past. Our game plan is about pressure and driving the ball forward at any cost, watching Crouch handball to someone under pressure or move at the treacle slow speed he does for us would make me sick. He is not what we need at all.Of course he can't - and shouldn't.
They are rebuilding and want to play kids in the middle. Why do you think Keays went forward?
They play ONE senior player in midfield - Rory Laird.Their best.
Crouch out - blood a new kid.
That's what rebuilds look like.
Move on experience and salary whilst they have currency and try a kid.
The bubble up there is frightening tbh.
We are trying to jump up into finals.
Matt Crouch not good enough for Gold Coast. FML.
Crouch (or J Anderson or T Mitchell or 5 other blokes) goes contested ball, Rowell moves 5 meters out the contest as does Noah. We win more centre clearances than this year.
Swallow becomes a Luke Hodge quarterback type.
I'll be quite honest - play Matt Rowell another 2 years as a contested ball accumulator and he will just about be done.
We have more than enough talent to make finals this year. I agree someone to crash and bash would be useful but the answer isn't Matt Crouch. Jed Anderson on a cheapish deal could be the answer.
Signings for the sake of it isn't the answer. You need the right players and more importantly the right characters.
The Sun's aren't Hawthorn, there is no point comparing to them.
Love your passion though mate. Keep it up I say. But Rhys Mathieson is not the answer

You're starting to turn into 17er with this ridiculous arrogance you have.
it’s not 2017 anymore.Agreed - someone cheaper than Crouch, but tough would be perfect.
No argument.
But just to say - 'not good enough for Gold Coast' as some are - is lunacy.
Perspective - only 3 Gold Coast Players in the clubs history have made the AA team..
Sure you're not 17er?Got it.
Mustn't upset the clique.
See you when the footy starts.
I'm heading for Ben and Iva's page - where the truth is often spoken rather than over the top loyalty spiel.Got it.
Mustn't upset the clique.
See you when the footy starts.
