1. Sack the coach and try something different, don't have to throw the baby out with the bath water just yet.
2. Flanders, Hollands, Fiorini, Davies will have to step up.
3. Touk won't leave. If Noah or Matt want to leave, just get the best deal, picks and best 22 players from other clubs.
4. The only thing we could provide them is money, which is want Craig Cameron has been saying. We haven't even been in the conversation to attract these players because of our cap problems, now that we're actually taking a forward step in clearly space we can finally have conversations.

If he was a great team man he would've smoothed out his contract even further like he has with Geelong. He can play solid back flank but he doesn't want to, he wants to play midfield.

By the way every Suns fan should know that having top drafts picks means absolutely nothing, it doesn't guarantee you a star player nor does it guarantee success. Our best draft pick was Touk Miller taken in the 2014 draft at PICK 29.

Your right.. drafting top draftees who get drafted as gun mids
then we try turn them into back pockets and forward pockets doesn’t work..
Why we persist I don’t really know.

Bowes was 1 of the best junior mids , Flanders is a mid, brodie was a mid.. they needed midfield minutes
No point drafting top 10 picks to only play them out of position

Someone in recruiting should ask Dew what his plans are.. and where he wants fresh blood..

while also tossing away a potential gun of a top 10 pick, for salary next year that we aren't even using.

The worst trade in history bar none.

The salary we aren’t even using….. is being saved up so we can use it in 2024.

If we only use 95% of the cap we can use 105% in 2024.

The club has a list of players wanting to come allegedly. We’ve never had any room in our cap space and have had 15+ first rounders on the list the whole time, how do we extend everyone and then sign guns?

we come out before trade period started and stated this is our aim this year to set up us in 2023-24 to have a crack at it.

On field we have had most successful season, 2 wins out the 8. Beat Sydney, Freo & Carlton who were all top 4 at the time. Recorded our biggest comeback against Richmond, and most members ever.

Fans need to back in the process, we are stable on field and off field at the club. Unfortunately we have to let another top pick go, but guess what we’re getting another one coming thru the doors this year and we will next year and the year after…

That’s just it.
We are capable but Cameron is a sand bag who is weighing us down..

Premierships are hard to get.

And if 1 cog ain’t turning correctly.
It throws the whole thing out of sync

I mean the optics don’t look great but I’d rather give up pick 7 than pay someone 1.7 mil to play ressies for 2 years, atleast this way our cap is in good shape and we still have the best u23 list in the competition (in my opinion atleast). I do hate the way that we had to force bowes out and he shouldn’t have been on anywhere 850k a year but I can see why the club did it. It was back in 2019 when we had just had probably the worst exodus in years and losing a young queensland talent would have been a complete disaster.

Long story short, Our cap space is in a good spot and we still have a top 6 pick on draft night which should get us who we want. Bowes will go on to be a great player but that won’t change the fact that he would’ve fit in to our clubs game plan

You focus on drafting best available talent when you're rebuilding, that was our focus in the 2018/19/20 drafts. If a player fell to your picks you take them, Ellijah is one example of that mindset.

Players being only good at 1 thing is a thing of the past. You can just be a good ball winner, you have to be able to tackle, have an above 70% kicking efficiency, average a goal a game and be able to set up plays through the midfield. So you have to develop these players who may only be good at 1 thing but mold them into better players. If Sam Flanders can play pressure forward he can use that in the midfield, If Bowes can play at Half Back and develop defensive pressure than he can use that in the midfield, we are doing this with Ellijah to turn him into a goal kicking midfielder.

The point I'm trying to make is that you don't just draft a player and that's it, you have to develop them and mold them into your team.

Dew clearly talks with recruiting, we had massive issues in 2021 with a lack of talls after Witts and Conroy both went down so they went out and got Ned Moyle, Marbior Chol and Levi Casboult. This season we lacked efficient ball movement in the 2nd half of the season which cost us quite a few games, so we went out and got Ben Long (disposal efficiency 76% last season).

2016 was a dud year all round wasn’t it.

1. Andy McGrath

Junior half back could play midfield. Afl has done absolutely nothing, Essendon trying to turn him into a midfield and he’s too slow, ended up tagging in his 6th year. Potential captain one day but they say the same about Merrett.

Playing out of position

2. Tim Taranto

Awesome pick up, strong contested bull won a b&f in their grand final year. Played as a dangerous half forward the last two years

Has been traded to Richmond so GWS loses there

Played out of position last year because GWS had no forwards and Toby went on holidays

3. Hugh McCluggage

Superstar skinny winger turned balanced star man. Should of gone 1, wish he slipped one more spot. 4x AA squads in a row

Played on the wing then finally moved into his proper position

4. Ben Ainsworth

Hard working small forward who’s career started slow with injuries stopping him playing consistent football. Had the yips infront of goal.

Last two seasons he’s turning into an A grade half forward, powerful athletic physique and bagging goals, abit of a barometer.

Has always played in his position

5. Will Setterfield

Touted to be a potential pick 1, started at GWS, couldn’t get any games as a big bodied midfielder, went to Carlton. Couldn’t get a gig inside before Hewett, Cerra, Kennedy.

Literally had the Fiorini role, not good enough inside went back to the VFL had monster games and the back in the side as a winger. Too slow can’t kick now going to his 3rd club Essendon praying he’s the big bodied midfielder they need.

Played out of position in the end

6. Sam Petrevski-Seton

Drafted to Carlton as a silky half forward mid, he ended up playing back pocket before getting delisted/traded to the eagles.

Even in a 17th covid riddled side SPS couldn’t even get a regular game

Played out of position his whole career

7. Jack Scrimshaw

Half back, sooked apparently.

At hawthorn he’s had the same role and has looked the goods, with their influx of half backers now Jiath, Day, Impey. Scrimshaw ended up playing half forward second half of last year.

Mitchell is looking to play a run and carry game now so scrimshaw may not have a locked position next year

8. Griffin Logue

Freo reaching for the WA boy because you would think he would stay? Nope see ya, drafted as an athletic key back, he’s very underrated kept Buddy & Someone else goalless. Freo then swapped him forward for the second half of the year and was in and out and eventually taking a monster offer from North….. Corbetts spot if he wants it.

Played out of position in the end

9. Will Brodie

Contested king, very good jnside, Dew never gave him the chance, tried to turn him into a 3rd tall forward. He played 1 game then dropped for the rest of the year.

Tried to make him a forward mid instead of jnside mid

10. Jack Bowes

Our first academy gun coming thru, was described to be Scott Pendlebury. Started half forward went into the guts in 2019 and played well tagging Fyfe Bont Cripps in 3 weeks, then did the team thing and went down half back.

Was going back into the guts this year before rowell done him.

Seems like we put him in the 2s after he was no longer in our plans

Played out of position

Summary

10 players
7 have moved clubs
1 has moved 2 times
6 played out of position
1 b&f
0 brownlows
0 all Australians
0 captains

Out of all the drafts to have 4 top 10 picks, we chose this one. It's pretty funny to think that we had more success in 2017 with later picks than 2016 with 4 top 10's.

Top 10 picks are mostly mids.

It’s later picks where you normally pick up those developing talls/backs/small defenders etc.

Of course, it is draft dependant. In the year with the best talls, we took the best talls we could (Luko and King).

Meeting with Mark Evans Friday, happy to put to him any questions the group has. Just PM me

Will report back
Ask him please
What happened to club rebrand? New jumper design in prospect at all?

imagine if we took Luko, Max and Ben

It seemed like a no brainer to take them both at the time.

I’ve since thought that maybe it was good for Ben to carve out his own career. He always seemed to be in the shadow of his brother. This way he can be the star of the team.

3 talls? i don’t mind it

3 almost 4 with Joel Jeffrey. Luckily JJ and Chol are super agile.

McKay Curnow De Koning/Silvagni worked for Carlton.

Luko roaming up around the arcs and the one delivering the ball to a leading King/Chol.

King very powerful on the lead, will have life alot easier now he’s not the only option.

Chol with a full preseason should get even better, staying in games alot longer.

Casboult best hands and will make every contest a 50-50, very handy back up. Can see him playing when Ben isn’t

Day can’t see him playing a game, 3 games short of life membership tho

Need to harden up IMO. Not sure he can.

If he can play to his strengths, he’ll be a better asset.

Use his aerobic capacity to beat his man on the lead, use his vision and IQ to weight a kick to our forwards advantage.

Our midfielders need to use him when they can.

5th season next year, he added some muscle this year. No doubt Ben & Luko will be super excited to our key pieces forward. Expecting a big year from both.

Jack Gunston/Jeremy Cameron are still skinny and “soft” but are smarter footballers

2017 draft with the same hand we would have got LDU, Hunter Clark, Aaron Naughton, Lachie O'Brien.

2015 we would have got Clayton Oliver, Jacob Hopper, Sam Weideman, Harry McKay.

Just for comparisons sake.

Dion Prestia & Jaeger O’Meara’s bad timing should of left one year earlier or one year later

Spewing.
