Guys, I keep deleting posts referencing this, but can we move away from suggesting or making juvenile jokes about the bloodlines of players.

This is a public forum and parents of players do read here.

Is it a worry that McCabe hasn’t nominated us yet?

Dear hasn’t yet also

Maybe just a case of waiting until after trade period so we knew how many points and list spots we would have. We'd always take McCabe but we mightn't have been sure if we could assure Dear a spot.

McCabe at 19. Pretty impressive for a player who missed a lot of the year with injury and missed the combine.

197cm/86kg

It was a frustrating second half of the season for McCabe, who developed a stress injury in his foot after the national carnival. He spent some time on the sidelines before returning in Central District's under-18s finals series. However, after returning, he dealt with some groin and adductor soreness that has made for a management program in recent weeks, including sitting out testing at the Combine. The intercepting tall defender is tied to Hawthorn as a father-son, where his dad Luke played and is now a board member.

Oct 31 deadline although weird they don’t just do it.
Listened to an interview with Rob McCartney on SEN yesterday where he mentioned we are looking at bringing in 2 FS, unfortunately Gazey and the other knob only focused on McCabe and didn't bother to ask about the other FS.

But i think we can safely assume Dear will be a Hawk next season

As far as I know, the only other FS is Ned Maginness, who would be a surprise.

Hopefully Ned ends up at Boxhill if he is keen for an AFL career. Noted as a late developer!
Does anyone have any info on Ned? Where he has played his football this year? What sort of player he is? Current peformances to date? Can't find much online about him.
Apparently he trained with us earlier on in the year.

There’s a hawks insiders podcast that covers dear and Maginness best source of info suggest you listen to that.

Played wing early this year for Sandy, he's a decent runner both ways but hasn't got a drop of muscle mass on him yet. Not as good of a runner as Finn and not as physically developed, he's a better kick but doesn't get enough of the footy to really crack the team. If he can build his kicking into a weapon while he gets his running base up to par with Finn he'll have some tools to work with, but it's probably not great odds that he gets that shot in the VFL.

Assuming we nab young Dear and he earns a spot in our best 22, it would not surprise me if he was able to make a contest in the ruck if called upon to do so. It certainly would not be his main gig and I doubt it would be his secondary gig. However there could be times when we want to play just one ruck and Dear could be the man to provide a chop out. There have been plenty of undersized players who handled ruck work - going right back to our own John (Kanga) Kennedy who played at 188cm and, more recently, Adam Goodes at 191cm
Just like his dad! I think this is the biggest emotional f/s moment in our clubs history if we do list him and he plays.

How can you be a late developer at 17?

He does not have the build the other 17’s year olds have and they expect this to occur around his 20’s. Reported as a late bloomer like his dad in footy terms. As others have said listen to the pod cast below!

Check out his football photos is very thin indeed!

So he’s actually underdeveloped. 👍

Disrespectful comparisons. It's a meme to be likened to Frampton.
