You want speculation?

Oakley cared about the game and nationalising it.
Jackson cared about the game and the have nots within it.
Demetriou cared about money, and nothing but.
Gil cared about the game and community, butchered the first.

Where Oakley and Jackson would look at the North instance and state "HTFU and grow a pair FFS or I'll ship you to NT" Andy nods, goes back to his bank balance, adds a zero, states "that will be all", smokes a cigar. Gil is the Iraqi minister asking people to look away at the mound of s**t he has to navigate from Randy who gave no shits, you wanna beat women go for it, ride with murderers, sure, mad benders of illicit drug use, you bet, half arse documentation of things, why not, childs play, lookit the cash BABY! Gill is about that community until he has to deal with the fallout from Randy rodgering it.

Fresh Gil gives that compo, current Gil says pick an Andy: Andrew who hasn't had a chance to sit in the high chair yet or Randy who rodgered it good and proper. Will this next admin be the salty runback we deserve as supporters of a neglected game?
Pardon?! 🤣

But if you look at us it’s clearly the coach that has brought out the best in the list.

Again, How do KIDS make north immediately better?

Answer is they don’t.

So whatever concession they get should be one they are forced to trade for experience.

Or is that not the objective of north here and they just want further draft riches?
What about that young kid that Port traded for last season? One like that would certainly help…

No kid they draft will provide them with wins next year.

Which is the point of my post.

If the requesting of assistance is that they aren’t good enough, surely it makes sense to give them a pick or 2 that must be traded to make them improve.

To gift them a kid worth roughly pick 10, doesn’t make North better next season. Might make them better in the years after that. But that’s not the argument they are making is it.

It was a JHF joke. Sorry.

North in 2024 is going to have 14 (i think) first round draft pics on their list, minimum (barring some insane trade).

The discussion is whether they should get 2 more (compo for McKay and the NGA kid).

It seems reasonable to question what is fair and valid for assistance to a club that dug the hole they are in themselves and also whether maybe you should give it a year or two to see if the ones theyve already got turn into what they by rights should.

They're really lacking in experience and maturity. They should go out and target the Mason Wood or Ben Brown types who can set the standards and provide leadership.

North going to roll out a starting midfield of top 4 picks with another off the bench or on a flank, they don't need more lol
Genuinely if their midfield (including wings) is Sheezel, Wardlaw, Philips, LDU, Thomas and Stephenson they are all top 10s.

Add in next years and CCJ as their Ruck (pick 20).

Cats are tanking this week.

Cameron
Hawkins
Duncan

All out.

Talk is they are gonna play a VFL level team to make a few calls on players for next year.

Dogs should beat them if they are serious. Then it's up to the Giants on Sunday night.

Just as well we don't need Geelong to beat the Dogs for us to make the finals like we might have done if West Coast didn't beat the Dogs.

It might still cost GWS a finals spot if the Dogs beat a VFL standard Geelong team and GWS lose to Carlton which would be another farcical situation.

Funniest thing about the North discussion is that they've done exactly what many here were advocating we do mid year - cull and cull hard - get rid of the underperforming overpaid players who won't be part of the premiership window and hit the draft hard.

Apparently its madness to sit mid range all the time, no chance of getting anywhere doing that - you need to bottom out and hit the draft.

Still waiting for someone to outline all the priority assistance North have received so far from the AFL, other than a 2nd rounder and 3rd rounder they HAD to trade out.

Perhaps they helped with Alistair Clarkson but given how that s***show turned out this year I don't think it anyone could think that smacked of any favouritism.

Just totally ignoring any post that points out how badly you’ve missed the point now aren’t you.

Fair enough.

those groveling now for priority assistance were the same ones boasting back then how they never received assistance and how great they were.

but as has been said a million times already, automatic priority assistance was last handed out in 2009(Scully) GC is the only club to be given 1st round since, and even then the assistance was too great.

our whole backline bar NAS has been built with late picks/rookie picks and outside AFL picks, North has done other than delist players and draft through the National draft, they aren't trying at all.

Carlton going to go hard as well.

Finishing 5th will likely mean playing the loser of Collingwood v Melbourne and staying in VIC until the prelim.

Amazing that the Eagles, North or Hawks would get smashed for 'tanking' if they did what Geelong are doing...

If Carlton finish fourth would they not also stay in Melbourne until a prelim?

Pies at the G
Home Semi

Carlton can’t finish any higher than 5th.
Assuming we lose to the Lions and Sydney beat Melbourne, knocking us to 7th, I’ll be cheering the Giants in the final game to win and knock us down to 8th so we can play Carlton at the G.

Beat them and then beat Collingwood at the G in a semi after they lose the first final to Melbourne.

Would save us from going interstate until a prelim. Though I’m sure in reality that will all be a bit harder to achieve than it sounds

I know people like to kick clubs when they are down and we have lived through many of those years. North received extras picks last year in an assistance package and traded in valuable players. I know it gets back to the financial stability of clubs and they get less assistance than we do, but surely they need to work through this rut without further handouts.

They drafted JHF with their 2021 pick and he didnt want to be there, and traded away last years 1st pick for two quality players. I understand players want to experience sucessful environments, but its like they are pushing McKay out the door how is that good business? Its their environment that needs to change and more assistance packages arent going to change that!

TLDR:

Ross, Wayne, Gil had positive influence on AFL commission and football. Andrew is 0-1 sicne only focused on cash flow and propping himself up like a good narc. Gil handing over to Andrew Dillion.

Will Andrew be 0-2 and an inferior name for AFL administrators? Will Dillion end up be called Randy Slipon for sloppy seconds?

I'm only ignoring posts that aren't relevant to the point I'm raising - which is no matter what anybody says North Melbourne has not received significant hand outs (draft pick wise) from the AFL.

I have no interest in talking about conspiracy theories, media beat ups and fanciful scenarios.

Ben McKay is a RFA - he will be getting offers from other clubs. North won't do anything until those offers are on the table.

If the offers big enough (ie equal to or better than the top 5%), they'll be offered Pick 2, if they arent they'll get less.

If another club structures a deal to get them it over the line - I say good luck to North - most clubs have gamed the system in one way or another .

Lions and Daniher, Demons and Grundy, Cats and Bowes etc etc etc.

Simply a function of life that people/organisations always look for a way to exploit/game situations.

Has anyone bemoaned the actual hand outs they’ve received? Like who are you responding to then? Cause you’ve replied to me and Stav and neither of us have said anything about what they got so far.
