He's had a better year on paper than Daicos last year in the same position in a worse side. I think he's a very deserving winner. Chito is a footballers footballer not a stats king. I don't need him to win awards, I'm comfortable that he's going to be a gun anyway.
In reality the rising star is meaningless. How many rising star winners have gone to be absolute superstars?

Wasn't eligible

Last year. I think he had one of those years where all of his best games fell on weeks where other had better ones.

The Mongrel Punt just gave Nas the award for most improved player in the AFL. AFL careers are a marathon not a sprint and Nas is in our best 5 players now in his second year with unlimited scope for future progression.

Well you don't get it for not getting the ball so yeah. Honestly it's pretty disrespectful to the kid. He's had one of the all time great debut seasons and people are questioning him. Even when Ashcroft was flying I still had Sheezel ahead of him.
People saying easiest position mustn't rate the work Sincs and Nas do in the same position

A handful of champions, some very good players, some GOPs and some like Taylor that make you ask who they are.

He's a great player don't get me wrong it's just the AFL landscape tend to over rate players just because they rack up disposals.

Most touches of any first year player for 46 years or something. If he was a Saint I'd be pumped. He's not a stat padder, he kicks out but he also goes and wins his own ball. I don't get why he's not getting any love. I reckon he's an absolute gun. I reckon Wardlaw might end up better tan Sheezel even. They got two absolute rippers and along side LDU they are likely to have three A grade to elite talents. Why they can get ****ed getting a handout.

and accumulator daicos becoming genuinely integral to the success of the magpies system. I actually think having a good creative accumulator on half back is one of the most important pieces of a side these days. Sinclair is our best player for a reason

But every game is like a sprint, not a marathon

Lots of footy supporters do a “ring culture” thing where they don’t rate someone if their team isn’t good. Maybe makes some sense in NBA with 5 on the court but minimal sense in AFL because no one wins games off their own boot.

Its bizarre how AFL supporters think that just because a player is a "premiership player" he is better.

We know how to get ahead of ourselves don't we
What is Football without optimism and shitposting?

Sincs had the third most disposals of any player this year.

The next best non full time mid is Bailey Dale at 25.

Sincs might be the hardest working player in footy.

Sheezel is really really clean by foot too and has all the kicks.

Can go the flat bullet when needed but also has a great little touch depth kick for a 20m leading player.

Hes a jet.

Add to that his excellent kicking , and its why Champion Data rated him so highly.

I know its a pointless discussion but the AA team is so ****ing weird.

Sicily and Stewart are basically the same player, no second ruck (not even a forward who can ruck) and two deadset accumulators on the bench.

Its not even a Roma thing cause he was fringe with Jackson for second ruck anyway but its such a weird unbalanced team.

The Dally M team of the year is much better. Essentially names the best player in each position and it makes sense.

I say that every year. It's not actually a balanced team.
Nice for them to get the recognition but just make it the top 22 players in the league.
Not like they're actually playing anyone.

OK, its a stretch, but hear me out.....

Harry Sheezel - first Jewish afl player to win anything since...
Ian Synman in 1966!

Now, I know you can count on one hand the amount of Jewish afl players in history,
but I'm feeling it...:) :trophy:
