WTF! I just realised we don't have a second round pick again? Don't tell me it was part of the judas trade?

2022 R2 was traded as part of CCJ deal.

We then traded our 2023 R2 to Crows for their 2022 R2 and took Brayden George.

<angry couldn't work in an R2D2 gag>

Billy is making a late season surge up the draft ranks since a move out of defense which has led to a significant increase in production. In this game he split his time between midfield and wing and proved adept at both roles, especially when he was able to find space on the outside and use his damaging kicking skills.

Very clean in the middle. He looks like a natural mid to me. Ran himself into trouble a couple of times thinking he's quicker than what he is but for the most part that's a nice highlights package. Guys like Billy could get taken anywhere from 21+. It's very even from that range.

My sense watching him is that he has quick hands in traffic but he's trying to lead teammates into space which they're not always reading, which results in what seems to be handballs to nobody.

No I agree. His decision making is sound. I think clubs will have his rated higher than what various media outlets have in their rankings.

Interesting question if if we get P2 compo from McKay,,,,,,,do we trade P2 for P3 and what has WCE got to throw in?

If we get a McKay compo pick right after our 1st pick we would be mad not to at least dangle it out there and see what interest from clubs in the vicinity that want a specific player. Doesn't mean we have to take the offer.

Yeah that may be a reason why it might not be wise to go after GC 1st as well.

Possibly. From memory we don't have to hang onto a potential GC 1st - nothing to say we couldn't get it and live trade or on trade for multiple picks slightly further down. ie. a couple around the 6-12 mark or a highish pick and a couple of slightly later ones if we see value in it.

Quick q. Do finals results impact the draft hand? Eg. if PA go out in straight sets does their pick become 11/12?
Essentially the answer is yes, draft position is after finals so if you go out in straight sets you get a higher pick than a team that comes 8th at H&A then makes the Grand Final.

I love that Billy backs his pace. Especially when playing off half back. He’s a genuine line breaker and I think he’s better than Philactides for example, although not as physically developed.

Colby was delivering another banger of a game, but ended up having a bit of a torrid time with injury. Had his bell rung from an awkward collision midway through the second after which he got up shaking his head and spent a period on the bench. Was noticeably quieter after that incident. Finally had his afternoon ended by a nasty looking ankle injury early in the third which required him to be carried from the field.

We’ll have some of that if we get pick 2 for Magoo.

whats the reports on Reid's personality? is he liked by team mates and coaches? leader, professionalism? no one can be a bigger flog than JHF but I hope we are doing all the background checks required
I don't think that opposition fans will like him. He seems like a bit of a smart-arse on the field, which I like.

It was part of the Judas trade.
Be Quiet Ben Stiller GIF

McKercher reminds me of Andrew McGrath.

Talented but not what I'd invest a pick 2/3 on. (Yes I know McGrath went pick 1)

How do we get to this point and still not know who is and who isn’t qualified for academies.
So hasn't Jiath benefitted from Hawthorn's coaching and resources for years? If not, what has Hawthorn had to do with his development? Why do they benefit if they've done nothing for him?

If you want to see what Reid can look like across half back then just watch the first quarter of this game against WA last year (even just the first 5 minutes).

He's somehow finding himself on the end of every WA kick forward. They only do anything going forward when he goes to the bench. 8 disposals. 100% efficiency. Beautiful long kicking, hitting targets.

It's also a good exhibition of a 17 year old Mitch Edwards, who I think is a little underrated by some.
