Edwards continued his late season move up draft boards with a solid outing to help his Sandy Dragons win through to the Talent League grand final. This week his size, strength and speed allowed him to put on an impressive tackling display to go with 21 disposals and a goal.

Is there a site where you can see all the VFL players, their heights and 2023 stats…? Couldn’t find it online…

If we were forced to match a bid on him do we get a discount?
Also would we be better off using picks 2 & 3 then trade away 11 (if we got it) & 14 for picks next year then use a heap of junk picks to pay for Sanders??
Otherwise use 11*, 14 & a future pick to get 4 or 5 to get ahead of a bid on him???

So Sanders officially added to NMFC NGA list. Also rumor that we won't have to wait until Pick 40 to match a bid and can do so anywhere in the draft. Opens up the conversation a lot about trying to get 2,3 4 and then later picks to match for Sanders?
you mean 2,3,and 5 ....Hawks have pick 4.......

Well, both (from my understanding):
  • Mid-high 180's
  • Elite goal sense
  • Shown some ability to play in the midfield
  • High quality disposal and composure
  • Both won the Coates goal kicking

Just curious as to if Duursma is purely the medium forward type or if people can see that he will have flexibility to do what Sheezel has done in an AFL system of playing well across all lines. I think if the club believes he isn't just a forward, it'll make us consider him a lot more.

From what I’ve read about Bont’s draft year, and seen in limited YouTube highlights of Duursma, he seems similar to Bont in that there were questions about whether Bont could play more midfield. Duursma seems similar in that respect.

What’s more, having two Flying Dutchman in our forward line might not be such a bad thing if we don’t have a genuine second key forward to support Larkey!

I guess from my perspective it's like comparing Isaac Heeney to Steve Johnson.

Sheezel was a mercurial goal kicker, not known for his athleticism, but footy IQ, forward craft and skill. He played 1 game in the middle for Sandringham and had close to 40 touches, so there was a blueprint for how he would do up the ground in the AFL. He didn't pile on the goals in a 5 week period, he kicked 50+ in all comps across the entire year.

Duursma is one of the most gifted athletes in the draft, he's struggled for big portions when playing in the middle, but is probably even better than Harley Reid in the F50 in terms of that fwd/mid role. He's known as "big game Zane" because he's the type that can have 20 and kick 6. Tarryn Thomas might even be a good comparison, who was similar at 17/18.

I’m with big game Zane! I’d be happy if walk away with both he and McKercher at 2 and 3!

Are west coast a realistic chance they take Curtin with pick 1?

Surely not! They would be derelict in their duty not to pick Reid. Our only chance is if through Simmo’s pathological love for North that he directs his recruiting team to call out Curtin first.

After todays NGA listing one would think matching a bid for sanders is back on the cards and pick 11 will be our mechanism to do that and possibly and end of 1st for 2024 ...... soooooo .....

Assuming the draft goes like this
1 - WC - Reid
2 - GC - Walter
3 - Nth - McKercher
4 - GC Read
5 - Nth - Curtin
6 - Haw - Duursma
7 - WB (GC) - Watson
8 - Melb - Caddy
9 - GWS - O'Sullivan
10 - Geel - Wilson
11 - SANDERS <----- 1329 points - 20% = 1064 required
12 - Ess -
13 - Adel -
14 - Adel? (WB/GC)
15 - Nth - 1112
16 - Syd
17 - Stk
18 - Melb
19 - Nth - 948

Can we get away with trading 11 and using 14 to match?

Would 11 + End of 1st 2024 (or our 2024 2nd if no PP) + Swap of 1st round picks for 2024, be enough to tempt GC for pick 4/5/6/7 whatever it becomes?

A result of McKercher, Curtin, Watson, Sanders would be outright amazing!

An earlier than expected Sanders bid could hurt us but it may be worth the risk.
