Training 2023 Pre Season

Having been to training and seeing it in the flesh.. this might be too pessimistic for some but I just still wasn't impressed with what I saw on the park. It's obvious we've got no stars - especially with Winx not on the track, Gresh and Steele on light training duties etc. We're just kids and desperately HOPING for a handful of players to take the next step so we can look a bit better on paper. Training standards are obviously on the up, but skills wise it's gonna take some time. Bit of a realistic look at things, if we can somehow make the 8 - I'll be pleasantly surprised!
That’s how I’ve seen it. If some of your best players aren’t on the track then it’s really hard to improve training standards. I really haven’t seen much difference from this year standard wise. I have seen more excitement as you would expect when a coach like Lyon is in charge and there are some legends helping him.

I don't know what we were thinking giving him a 3 year deal, he's the sort of guy you might throw a lifeline to, to get on our rookie list id he's lucky.

The Bulldogs defence was the worst in the AFL last year and we throw a 3 year deal to one of their worst offenders and they were happy to let him go.

I can't see him lasting long, if he plays a senior game for us under Ross I'll be very surprised, I'm tipping a payout and he will be gone by next year.

Well unfortunately 17 teams didn't want the Cordenstein.

I say unfortunately because it is unfortunate it wasn't 18.

🤪
16 actually.

"Cordy has signed a three-year deal with the Saints after turning down a two-year offer to remain at the Kennel."

Cheap tall back insurance - but fair chance he could start at FF in the first round.

god wouldn't that be a way to get the general public around us. have 4 of our youngest players podiuming the rising star
I wonder what Nas, windy or Owens is paying for the rising star? Nas will definitely get a nom early if he is playing off the hbf. He is a pretty good Smokey I reckon

While it’s far from ideal that our numbers on the track are so low at the mo, this is still a very highly competitive team we could field in R1, based just on those who are reportedly in the main group, as of last week.

B: Wilkie Howard Paton
HB: Sinclair Battle Wang
C: Hill Crouch Mackenzie
HF: Wood Sharman Higgins
F: Butler Membrey Hayes
R: Marshall Steele Gresham
I: Clark Ross Windy Webster Billings Bytel Owens Pou

Injured: King, Hotton, Jones, Coffield, Campbell, Keeler.

Marking targets up forward and backup rucking the only obvious potential major weakness there, otherwise we’re batting deep all the way to 23 with those who are clearly AFL standard, and I still didn’t find room for Bytel, Mitch, or Pou, who would all presumably be well in calculation for a spot. Along with others like Byrnes, Cordy, Highmore, Van Es, Connolly.

If we get hit with more injuries in the meantime we could be in strife though, depending on where they play.

Nas and Windy are ineligible as they played more than 11 games last season. (17 and 18 respectively).

The problem could be gresh won’t have a huge workload. Hayes is probably unlikely. Mackenzie doubtful.

Incorrect.

Dogs wanted to re-sign him & Geelong offered him 2 years.
