J Steele on the other hand wasn't very happy, was constantly berating himself when doing a drill in the forward pocket.

Has looked miserable (compared to his previous demeanor) ever since taking the captaincy.

Hopefully a few good wins on the board under a ross lyon system puts a smile back on his dial

Yes they are but there are too many players that can’t properly hit a target, even under no pressure..I don’t expect perfection but there were far too many skill errors yesterday.
The boss is much more involved now so he’ll sort the wheat from the chaff!

This right here is what is going to drive us fans crazy over the next 6-12 months.

We are going to have to sit through watching huge, and at times embarrassing, turnovers over and over again.

We are transitioning from a 'gameplan' that involved banging the ball on your boot high and long... ie chaosball... to an actual gameplan which requires our guys to actually hit specific targets.

This is gonna be ugly for a while- lots of our best 22 have gotten by for years being unable to hit up the broad side of a barn.

All it takes is one weak link in the possession chain and we've killed it.
It's the right plan long term- but it's gonna be ugly for a while.

i knew this was going to be a problem as our skill level over previous years wasn't that good, with lots of turnovers.

Yep he’s been training looks his usual self still think judge him on his games not training we know he’s a natural

Well Wilkie was backed to play on the oppositions best or 2nd key forward a lot more than Battle was last year.

Either way it's not great. Battle as good as.he was is still very much unproven as a one on one key defender. He played a lot more like a third tall does.

Yes, his game on Harry Mackay is a great example.
He played well, but the scragging and pulling!
10cm’s odd is too much to give away.
You can get away with that on a one off, but consistently?
You’re going to get burned.
I also see him very much a third tall.

On a side note when picking a team one has to pencil in one of RTB left field players that few of us will ever be able to predict.

People need to calm the farm, as it stands we have 3 players on the long term injury list with 2 of them, King and Hayes expected back playing round 5 and King's injury really only keeping him out of contact training so his fitness base wont be an issue. The other in Hotton is like 10 players back in the midfield group at this stage so we can afford to let him sit back and heal up properly.

The rest of the players are on management programs but still training and meeting their required work loads. People worried about our Rucks despite Campbell still pencilled in for the pre-season matches at this stage.

Obviously an ideal world is everyone 100% fit but this NEVER happens at the AFL level so as long as we dont cop any more season ending injuries we will be alright.

I wonder how many of those players being managed right now would have their hands up to play if it was round 9, rather than miss games for whatever their ailment is.

Might be a sign of smart training

I don't recall any announcement. I'm hoping there is a co-captain elected. Dumping Steele would be a massive call.

Yeah can't see them dumping Steele, though I'd say there's a good chance of a co-captain. Seems like a good idea to take a little pressure off Jack, agree Wilkie would be the one.

I'm on the Wilkie bandwagon but give Jack a year under Lenny before any major change.
They're all just keeping the seat warm for Windy anyways.
