With Walsh’s departure, David Misson will assume the role of Acting General Manager Football Operations to oversee the football program and football department. Tessie McManus’ role will also be elevated to Head of AFLW and AFL Operations, continuing her responsibilities in leading the AFLW program while also stepping up to manage the football administration and operations requirements of the men’s program.

This interim structure will commence effective immediately. The club will confirm any further updates when they become available.

Club sources confirmed Geoff Walsh was stepping down for family reasons. David Misson will fill the vacancy on an interim basis in the revamped football department headed by returned senior coach Ross Lyon.

Brad Hardie mentioned that Geoff Walsh was leaving St Kilda on 6PR here on Friday morning, his mail is usually pretty good when it comes to this stuff.

It isn't ideal timing but I think we have enough experienced off field staff at the club to be able to cover for him until we get someone to replace him.

Mowman tipped us off so kind of expected it but it's a real shame. He would have been a great person to drive the club. Lyon can run his own show without a mentor but the guidance he would have given to the footy department and the knowledge he would have passed on would have been incredible.
