I know Pearce and Cox are good but Barrass would be our best KPD.

Allen would be our best KPF.

Ryan would in theory be our best small forward but I’m not sure he’d last too long at Freo where his off field problems would get exposed for what they truly are (if not worse) by the Eagles media. In theory he’s a pretty good player though.

Sheed might be under 28 - I’d probably take him ahead of JOM tbh.

There’s no one else I’d even be close to taking that’s aged between 23 and 28.
Don't see it the same.

If Barrass is better it is marginal and I wouldn't pay the premium required for that.

Allen. He has potential but until he locks down as a kpf... But yes, he could be our best kpf next season, as could most established kpf in most teams. We have injury prone Taberner, then we have potential. Allen is a mixture of both those.

Ryan went missing last season along with too many on their list when the silver platter wasn't being used.

I have no attachment to O'Meara but would not prefer Sheed.

Don’t get all the fap about Allen personally, at least 80% hype as said earlier

No way Ryan survives on Freos list without the eagles media shield he currently has so not worth the amazing things he can do on occasion

Freo already has talent equal to or better than Barrass

The rest can jog on, all IMO of course

I certainly don't think the gap is much between our KPDs and Barrass or JOM and Sheed but when I take my purple glasses off they're slightly better Barrass was so bloody good last year but I guess I'm going off Sheed pre-injuries (18 months ago at least). Wouldn't improve us much at all by switching them with our guys

Allen and Ryan would improve us massively.

Clearly I don’t watch enough Weagles games as I really don’t understand the fact some people rate Allen so highly. In the statement above, he would be taking Jackson, Tabs or Amiss’s spot in the line up, Jackson is already better than him as the forward/ruck role, Tabs has better output in terms of goals scored per game and Amiss has as much, if not more potential. So that statement is nonsense in my opinion.
As for Ryan, with his defensive efforts he’d be lining up at peel with Sturt rather than replacing Schultz, Walters or Switowski. So again, I don’t see how he’d “massively improve” our forward line.
Maybe I need to take off my purple glasses.

The other point is I think we'll miss Rory Lobb massively in the short term.

Realistically it's Jackson and one of the undersized Corbett or one of the kids (Treacy/Amiss) replacing him and Logue. I didn't rate Logue up forward though.

I'm a big fan of both Treacy and Amiss tbh but them as our second best genuine KPF is 2-3 years behind where the rest of our team is at.

Orrrr... losing Lobb could remove the shackles and hasten more rapid ball movement into the gameplan, as we now have more a moving feast of a forward line (aka more dynamic small ball type). Potentially more goals. Any which way, they do have plenty of time to adjust to his loss.

I still can't believe we ended up getting JOM and 43 for Meek and a future 2nd

The Hawks wanted to get rid of JOM and Meek could easily be a top ten ruck in the comp this year. Was a mediocre trade IMO.

I would have been happy to do JOM for F2 and keep Meek.

No point in keeping Meek. He'd be OOC and could feasibly not play a game in 2023 and leave for a 4th.

JOM on the surface looked overs but the 500k or whatever it is could be massive. Trade period just gone highlighted the importance of salary cap management.

Crazy talk. I wouldn’t trade either of Pearce or especially Cox for Barrass. Cox isn’t even close to his ceiling yet. He’s special.
Ryan I love, would take him in a heartbeat.
Sheed can be ordinary but his best is very good. Kind of how I hoped Tucker would be.

Sheed isn't a game changer (despite that goal). He's a contributor.

I think you are pretty seriously overeating Meek. He's played 15 games and at no stage has he looked like he will be a top 10 ruck in the league. It is likely he starts in the VFL behind Reeves. He is a solid young ruck option and was worth about a third rounder

Meek is a good pick-up for Hawks. It’s a bit like Nankervis from Sydney to Richmond.

I watched a lot of Peel games and my big frustration with Meek was replicated at AFL level…his inability to clunk marks. Remember that late moment against Geelong (we won the game) but he got himself into a good position but dropped the mark on the wing that gave Geelong another forward entry. This happened frequently at WAFL as well.

He has a very good ground level game for a big bloke but to go to the next level his body use and ability to mark need to improve greatly.

He will get much great opportunity with Hawks and was a quality person so I genuinely hope the best for him.

As for Freo - just watching the early impact of JOM is already a positive. If Fyfe can get fit and firing having those two is very important.

A future mid second and Meek for JOM (minus $500k salary year one) and early third makes for a very good trade for mine.

The salary cap needed to be managed whilst taking opportunity to lure across Luke Jackson.

Lobb was always gone and the club knew that. The cost of salary cap pressures were Logue and Acres.
