Or hug their kids!
That's just a terrible strawman. Advocating for sensible precautions like educating the players, providing masks for high risk situations if they choose to use them, and indoor air quality improvements is not a) stopping them having a life or b) telling them to stop hugging their kids (that's nuts).

Many football players make substantial sacrifices to be at their best (eg. not drinking alcohol during the season, careful diet, heavy training off their own bat in the offseason). Giving them the tools to make informed choices and be safer around a very dangerous virus with a high rate of post-infection consequences that can end sporting careers is in no way an extreme position, and if you think that I'm advocating anything else, I do suggest working on your reading comprehension skills.

OTOH, thanks for raising the safety of children - we should definitely be doing things to make kids safer too! Just classroom ventilation and air filtration would make an enormous improvement in all viruses and in allergies/asthma as well (not to mention there are studies showing high CO2 in poorly-ventilated classrooms adversely affects ability to learn!). Given the price of good air filters compared to the price of medical care, it's definitely highly cost effective too!

Anyway, glad to have stimulated conversation; just want our team to have any competitive advantage it can

I did a drive by as I was heading past and there wasn't anyone training on the oval. It looked like some maintenance on the turf was going ahead.
The Eagles apparently told the media they were starting back on Monday but had their time trial on Fri at a secret location (an athletics track not Perry Lakes).

The draftees apparently had their annual induction camp on Mon/Tue this week (at least this is what I was told). The likes of Ginbey (who came second in their time trial), Hewitt and co. were back at training today.

I’d suggest without any confidence that Freo had a time trial offsite today (they go to McGilvray don’t they) or they start back Thu with a time trial.

Simmo trying to avoid fat shaming again. He’s very progressive.

The Hawks wanted to get rid of JOM and Meek could easily be a top ten ruck in the comp this year. Was a mediocre trade IMO.

I would have been happy to do JOM for F2 and keep Meek.

There's an argument that Meek is already top 10 as a number 1 ruck in my view. His problem was he's the same type as Darcy so they can't play together which makes him a poor fit here.

I'd rank the current starting rucks something like this;
Gawn, Darcy, Grundy, English & Marshall in the top tier.
O'Brien, Big O, Witts, Goldy next.

If we assume Meek wins R1 at Hawthorn, which I think he does, then there's Meek, Draper, Pittonet, Nank, Hickey, Lycett, Nic Nat, Stanley and whichever stiff from GWS you pick in some order. If you have Meek the best of that bunch, then he's just in the top 10. If you have him ahead of, or equal too any of that second group then he's definitely there. Honestly given a choice right now I take him over Goldy, Witts or McInerney (possible) then he's definitely there.

The biggest knock against Meek when comparing him to any of that second or third group is he hasn't done it consistently yet. His best games as R1 compare very well to any of those guys and comfortably beat most. the fact he hasn't shown it consistently yet is because his best is not as good as Darcy's. Other than Gawn and Grundy noone's best beats Darcy's.

I agree the trade could have been better but I also suspect we did the right thing by Meek a bit here which I'm OK with given he was a good soldier for us and like drxce said I also believe JOM will be a good get so a win-win is going to be the end result.

I think you'd be surprised

Urm, I feel REALLY Lazy watching this! :( Yikes. And damn!

Better put those fancy-flavoured Tim Tams back on the shelf. It hurts, it hurts.......
