Unit!

I remember he was getting big after footy, hell of an effort to be looking like that though
he used to go to my old gym probably 3-4 years ago and was in pretty similar condition to his footy days

The King of the Husk's is right, very little happening today. I hung around for about 90 mins and just saw a few very light ball movement drills. These concentrated on short kicks to work their way through press situations either going forward or coming out of the backline when the backline crew were out there.

Very little to glean from any of it other than the guys seemed to be enjoying each others company and looked pretty heavy in the legs. I'd imagine the heavy legged stuff was due to the gym gear they'd been doing before getting out there and from the time trials the day before.

Sorry folks but with the lack of action comes a distinct lack of content. I'll be going back early next week too, probably Tuesday at this stage so will have another crack then.

Training must be mostly gym session as just a few having a kick to kick.

Ill be back Monday for a full training report

Goddamn appreciate your efforts gents :crown:

1st training day for the year.
I’m not sure Fyfe should go forward, it’s the general consensus but I’d love
to see him rotating with a Young or Chapman.
His aerial ability with his shoulders, it’s much easier to play half back watching
the play rather than making it.
Could actually improve both midfield and defence, and extend Fyfes career.
I can see a Serong, O’Meara going forward with a Switta, etc.
Having Young or Chapman delivering the ball forward would instantly create
clean ball use.
It’s getting the balance right between power and class.

Fyfe forward is a big problem for opposition teams to plan for IMO. His aerial ability and contested ball winning is amazing. Even with his yips at goal kicking, defenders cant afford to just leave him. He causes a mismatch for the other forwards by taking a solid defender out of the equation and if he leads to the right spots it could turn out very well for us. I'm sure someone of his caliber will also be working pretty hard on goal kicking if that's where he's going to be playing his footy...

All the more reason for Fyfe at CHF. Aerial ability means he can clunk a few and cause headaches down the wing. Take a defender away from Tabs, Treacy, Amiss etc.
Fyfe doesn’t have the pace nor smarts to play off half back.

Agree, our back 6 doesn't need a guy who has never played defence before.

He's a forward now and potentially creating headaches in the middle.

This is what I want to see him do to opposition defences.

My favourite Fyfe tactic was circa 2014-15.

From a kick in, we’d set up with Sandi and the followers on one side, and Fyfe one out on the other.

It was ridiculous how often he’d clunk it and allow us to transition forward.

He was unbeatable in the air back then. Fingers crossed he hasn’t lost too much of the magic.

I'll never get tired of watching that clip.

There was a moment in that same match where he completely bamboozled his opponent on the wing.

The ball came in long and high. His opponent was in the better position to mark it, but must have thought “Oh sh*t, I’m one out against Fyfe. I better stop him” and went looking for body contact, only for Fyfe to nip around him, mark it, wheel around and set up a crucial goal.

I’d love to see it again if anyone can find the clip! Think it was the last quarter.

My favourite Fyfe highlight that I think will be my point of reference in 30 years when people have forgotten what he was like at his peak - just completely unstoppable. Think those days are behind us though sadly

He can't bust through 4 players anymore but he's more than capable of winning his share of 1 on 1s.

Will Fyfey ever be the same contested marking beast though, especially after his shoulder operations?

The guy is the ultimate professional. I back him to adjust his game based on wherever his body is at.
He did the major op prior to 2012/2013 season. Shoulders held up.
His shoulders aren’t the worry.

Doesn’t need to. He’s a smart forward. V St Kilda he was getting in good positions and left one on one. Not many can beat him alone.

Daniel Curtin will be training with Freo again this year. Looks a gun. And a Fyfe/Freo supporter.
