Doesn’t look good for Roy. :/
I thought it was him and I was like;

I've gotta say just reading the reports it seems like this is the best we've looked at this stage of the pre-season in a long long time. At this stage in 2017-2020 ish all the reports were very underwhelming, about how we couldn't execute under pressure and couldn't find targets in the match sims or kick goals. We started those years notoriously slowly and clearly had a lot to work on.

Dare I say it, we haven't looked this good since we were a contender

Nah I think the coaches felt Erasmus wasn’t good enough last year towards the end of the season to play AFL. I’m certain if they had thought he’d improve the side he would have played in the finals. Probably instead of Brodie who tapered off a lot in the last few games.
To back this point up, they threw a one game Jye Amiss in the deep end for the biggest two games the club had played in 7 years, because they obviously felt he would improve the team. It was a bold and brave call that I didn’t think Jlo had in him but he was absolutely right.
Struggling to recall a novice player that came from absolute nowhere to play in games like that in recent AFL memory actually.

I believe Brisbane played a debutant in one of their finals this year who went all right, iirc

Seriously poor from Benning. No offence intended to Big Bubba Darcy, but if he's running off you and immediately putting miles between you, you are slower than a wet week in prison.

Reminds me of a moment from more than a few years ago where Taylin Duman was defending Hugh Dixon, Ross Lyon on the whistle just to date it, and Lyon gave Duman a huge rev up telling him to outwork Dixon, that Dixon was cooked already, work work work.

Similar vibes.

This feels... worse. There's no scenario where Sean Darcy of all people can run to get an uncontested mark on the wing, turn around, jog to 50 and plop one through. Sounds like that dude has about 6 months to figure it out

I guess we always knew he was gonna be a project. Probably should have come along more by now. For comparison sake how long was McGovern on west coasts list before he started to look AFL ready?
