Scenario: You can take Gresham as a free agent, but only if you trade out D. Moore for a first round pick.
Do you do it?

Wanna brief us on the background that requires us to lose Moore so as to accommodate Gresham?

The only conclusion I can draw is that you're crazy, because we can easily afford both (on field & off).

It's just a hypothetical.

Some posters here might need to reconsider their posting style. This isn’t a thread to try and get a rise out of fellow Hawks posters.

Continue down that path and it will become a “**** around and find out” moment.

If this is a reference to my posts in any way then I find it disappointing.
I am deadly serious about the prospect of trading D.Moore to get a generational talent like H. Reid, especially as he has been likened to L.Hodge.
Trying to gauge his value among fellow posters is a legitimate use of this thread, made to discuss hypotheticals.

I want Reid as much as just about anyone but you do not trade Moore + capital to draft a kid.

Moore is one of very few untouchable players on our list.

Absolutely love what he has become, but you can't change the type of player he is - a high half forward.
You would trade the best of those to get the next Luke Hodge.
All about confidence in Reid being that good IMO.

And my confidence is low, you aren't losing Moore for him either. You would be giving up a first as well as Moore. I also still think that the spoon holder may say no.

The only way we will get Reid is if we win the spoon, we will not be trading for pick 1.

Considering Adelaide offered something like 4,5,14 over 2 drafts for pick 1 to get Horne Francis, it would take even more for Reid. I would think 3 picks inside 5 over 2 drafts and something else - difficult to see who other than North might be able to pull that together (assuming they don’t finish last). Put simply it looks locked in that whoever gets the spoon gets Reid.

Don't believe everything the media spruik. There's no way they offered those picks for JHF

I think you are talking about Breust in his prime. Moore plays that role now but unlike Punky he has the engine to become a full time mid.

Harry at his best is serviceable.
He's a smart player without any elite qualities and mediocre in most physical attributes.
But he works hard for the team and is a solid team player.
Steak knives in any big trade deal - I wouldn't hesitate to move him on.
Out of interest what do you think were Liam Shiels’ elite qualities and physical attributes?

I find it disappointing that a poster who declared “I barely have any interest in Hawthorn at the moment” is now in here trying to convince others that we should trade our vice captain.

I’d replace disappointing with incredible (as in lacking credibility).

A bit like my grandpa walking past the TV in the 80s when Melbourne are playing and wondering aloud if Norm Smith is still coaching.

Who do you think are the best wingers?
Off the top of my head Mccluggage, Daicos, Amon, Langdon, Smith, Sidebottom, Hunter, seedsman, McIntosh, McInerney at a minimum as the specialist wingers

After that you can throw a blanket over a bunch of them

2012: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
2013: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
2014: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
Um... Breust isn't going anywhere
2015: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
2016: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
Breust isn't going ANYWHERE
2017: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
2018: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
2019: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
Breust isn't leaving
2020: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
2021: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
2022: What do we want? Trade Breust! When do we want it NOW!
BREUST IS STAYING!!!
2023: What do we want? Trade Moore! When do we want it NOW!

seedsman? maybe three years ago but he doesn't play anymore

Ok I'm not certain you are serious at all stating Seedsman. He didn't play last year and ruled out of this season so he is effectively retired.

Morrison was statistically better than all of McIntosh, McInerney, Hunter, Seedsman (Since he isn't even playing) and Sidebottom all while doing it in a bottom 6 team in 2022.
The only players on your list that are clearly ahead are McCluggage, Amon and Smith.

Hence Morrison is one of the better wingers in the league.

Except that's not what I said.
I have a lot of interest in Hawthorn, but Hawthorn hasn't exactly been all that interesting for a few years.

Start a hypothetical trade thread.
Post hypothetical trade.
Moderator: hey stop posting hypothetical trade propositions, they're hurting our feelings and you're not a real supporter!

Give a little authority and look what becomes of us...
