Compared to other sports, our trade period is short.
Too much player power, if they had less, more trades would get done alot easier

I highly doubt it would be #6 + #23 for Rioli
there will be a later pick coming back
What i dont get is how the Suns are considering Carlton in this deal
I would be keeping them hanging and even if a lesser trade trade #13 to collingwood just because of the dealing with the Martin / PSD stunt they pulled on the suns
#13 for F1 + Nobel would be the best result and the Magpies would take that imo

What I don’t get is why you’re so invested in who the suns trade pick 13 too.
I’m a Suns supporter and frankly I don’t care as long as it’s the best deal possible

Calrton overpaid for Martin. He front-loaded his contract in the PSD to get there and got screwed over by Covid payment cuts the next year. He achieved nothing and got delisted. I’m content enough with the outcome, given hindsight.
They also have a different list manager. So yeah. The past is the past. Take the best deal now. Whoever we give the pick to will end up stronger (in theory), so we have to be getting overs.

Anyone got zero faith in Cameron getting the best deal. Just going to let Collingwood and Richmond walk over us
I have my fingers crossed for 2023 version of Cameron where he smashed it. If 2018-2022. Reason turns up then yes we are screwed

We are going to end up with 3 firsts next year and Lombard Rioli and noble thru the door, he can’t really stuff it up

Getting the players we want this year and next is a success. Dimma wants Rioli and Noble, that's the goal for Cameron, and ensuring we can get the academy players we want next year.
Don't fall for the blustering Richmond fans crowing about getting overs for Rioli, they know they are in for years of pain and this is their big win. Meanwhile the Suns improve and hopefully take the next step next year.

Other sports are far more complicated though, with players moving across the world in some cases, and more than just trade picks available as currency.
AFL list managers and players are all well acquainted, this could all be done in a day if they wanted.
Day is a bad example.
Sam Day spent 14 years on our list, I think he was given more chances than anyone considering his ability.

IMO, yes, not playing finals was a failure and it impacted our list management, who we can attract and what picks oppositions are after.
Just look at Cats. We got only pick 17, take it or leave it.
Obviously, there is difference when players are under contract, but it still illustrates that opposition can ask only for pick(s) we have.
I definitely agree that if we end up with Rioli, Noble, Lombard and 3 F1 picks future academy kids/trades we have done well.
Let's how Luko trade goes supposedly today. Surely, we will send something back if we get F1.

Houston wants to go to Melbourne, not Queensland.
this guy should be on our radar for the right salary, upgrade for our small forward stocks and costs us nothing to get in just a list spot

I’m not sure we actually have any interest there, but you never know.
But similar to Collingwood using Noble as part of potential trades, Carlton want our pick 13. So we could negotiate Owies into the trade—plus Carlton have less bargaining power, as he is OoC, so demands would be less than Collingwood’s for Noble.
Still think it a low chance, but at least we have been linked to another B grade player.

Carlton have horrendous small forwards and aren't offering him a contract. Says a lot for me.
