The league should absolutely take the opportunity to say 'uh, nobody do this again' but I really can't reach the same levels of outrage some have.

"Should be sacked" is an overused term in the age of social media warriors. But I've never gotten such a "this guy should not have this job" vibe from reading an article like I did reading Mark Robinson's piece on Kevin Sheedy.

Several indigenous players file lawsuits against former AFL players and coaches and Robinson's first response as News Corp's chief football writer is to dismiss their experiences and then proceed to not only defend Sheedy but actually glorify Sheedy.

Robinson's logic is that doing wrong to the 100th man is OK if you've done right by the 99 others. It's such an ignorant position to view it from, and one that could only be formed from privilege.

At the end of the day we don't know the truth in the case of Sheedy & the Krakouer brothers, but that's why cool journalist heads need to prevail so the facts can be reported and the case can unfold as it is.

Unfortunately Robinson is no such cool head. He's the opposite. He's a hot-head, an Essendon supporter and a privileged white male using his position of power to influence the narrative based on his preferences.

He's always been a dumb-arse, but mumbling and saying stupid shit on TV while probably drunk is, at worst, annoying & unprofessional, at best it can be amusing. This feels more nefarious and says a lot about him IMO.

You've also missed the point. Robinson has called out racism in the past (ie stood up for Goodes), but your morality can't be exchangeable based on your biases. So now that a Bombers legend has been accused of racism he puts away the pitchfork.

You have identified the afl media good bloke process before, racial issues, domestic violence, drugs, alcohol.
They start the rehabilitation for the alleged perpetrators early on. He is "one of us"

Taking into account the new footage he shouldn't have been made to apologise at all. Totally blown out of proportion by Channel 7 looking for some controversy. They should concentrate on getting better commentators.

They surely will have some retirements this year. But yeah, they say its an even playing field but its clearly not. Players ask for overs to go North but will settle for evens if it means staying in the same state.
