Tom Green had - 90 against the Eagles, 73 against the Roos
Toby Greene had - 89 against the Eagles, 111 against the Roos

I'd say the matchups are that easy, that I'd genuinely consider it as a play...especially given the dearth of forwards. Extra 200K you need as well for Tom, which is no chump change.
Yeah I'm not going there. I landed five injuries and a suspension in back-to-back rounds last season. The less risk early on, the better for me.

If you're going to do that I'd just roll with Tom Green or Touk Miller. I don't see the point in doing that in the forward line unless someone is projected to gain $100k.
I'd rather Toby, tbh. At least McGovern or Barass can cover him. There's no-one in that backline that can cover Toby for a full game.
I’m not talking about a nice little pair of safe 100+ scores from highly priced players though. I’m talking about the possibility of this sort of return from a midpricer.

Neither Green nor Greene have that ceiling. If they score a nice pair of 120s then you’ve had a nice little start and you’re in the top couple of thousand. If Hogan with virtually zero ownership pulls out a 170 against the Eagles WAFL side then you’ve likely put yourself in the top 10 and you’re off to an absolute flyer.

Every chance it doesn’t come off but you need something gutsy to come off to have a shot at the car.

If he scores you a pair of 70s then you move on and trade him in for a mid pricer who’s going well. Doesn’t ruin your season. Low risk-high reward.

Wonder if someone at the Traders picks up on your unusual optimism and makes it a thing in one of their pods.....?

I get it. Power to anyone that does it and it works. I'm just not prepared to go there in case I get stuck with a player I don't intend to keep because I have to fix up other areas.

There was a conspiracy theory on here a couple of seasons ago that they got their ideas from Bigfooty 😂 I could hardly complain since I got the idea from elsewhere anyway.

Yeah for sure, completely understand that wisdom and it’s why I’m very unlikely to do it as well. Just something to bear in mind now that we’re talking about selecting pretty ordinary forward line options anyway.

Tonight’s games are probably the most intriguing in terms of Fantasy intel

Cats v Dons

Who takes Guthrie’s CBAs (Bowes)?, Do Holmes and Bruhn get a decent chunk of CBAs? Is Clark given a shot?

Who gets the majority of that third mid role for the Dons behind Zerrett and Parish?

Is Nic Martin legit at HB?

Dogs v Hawks (this is tommorow night but point still stands lol)

Does Harmes keep that desirable role?

Does Amon stay at HB?

Who gets the mid minutes at the Hawks?

I mean you definitely have a point. 188 is absolutely bonkers.

Most likely I won’t do it, and then tigs2010 will use the idea following the tried and tested “do what Zevon says, not what he does” rule. We’d have our first Hilux winner from the BF Fantasy board.

With all of this said though, he's not exactly cheap either. At least T. Greene has a chance at being a Top 6 forward...you're making this move with a guy who's 667K...rather than 400K (see me with Curnow a couple of seasons back).

Yeah that’s very true, earlier when we first started discussing this I was thinking what a pity it is that he’s not 500-550k. Makes it a little easier to take the gamble. Still, at his price it would make it easier to go down to whichever midpricer has started well, so I guess that’s the silver lining

I don't mind the Greene move for this reason. I won't be going there as there is no value plus the R3 bye but I have looked into building extra security into my forward line because that is the area I'm going to need to upgrade the most but I'm going to want players on other lines (as upgrades) first.

That's the problem. He'd be about $320k if you take out the 188 lol

It will be interesting to see H Reid, I don’t feel as confident starting him however I’m aware he’s probably one of the best JS rookies out there

After what I saw with him, he's going to need a massive turnaround for me to spend 300K on him.

Had little game awareness, was slow in the contest, and just did not get to the right spots and always had his hands out when he was ignored. Teammates kept ignoring him, because he wasn't in a beneficial spot for the team to deliver it to him.

Honestly, it was a train wreck of a game, lol.

He's a kid and has mass pressure on his shoulders, but Fantasy wise, I just can't justify it after what I saw.

In before he has a whale of a game tomorrow as his team mates try to feed him the ball at every opportunity to build his confidence back up, leading to all of us picking him, only for them to start ignoring him again when the season proper gets underway :drunk:

The 73 against the Roos was at the oval nearest to the Antarctica though, to be fair. They won the game and surprise, surprise, who got the 3 Brownlow votes?

The 90 against the Eagles was at the far flung West stadium in the state were tumble weeds still grow. GWS lost when the Eagles had their best qtr for the year in the 2nd. Only 5 tons for the game from both sides.

That was last season, this is this season. 2024 - North at Giant Stadium, Eagles back at Optus Stadium again.

In 2022 Green had a 104 against North at Marvel and an 85 against the Weagles at Giant Stadium
In 2021 Green had a 68 against North in near Antarctica and a 114 against those western fraudsters at Giant Stadium.

Maybe you clawed your way onto something Catman - maybe you are not as dumb as you look - um did I get that around the right way, maybe you are not as ugly as sound, um, still not sure, maybe you are not as handsome as your opinions - maybe. Let's just say these straws you clutched at, you managed to reach pretty darn easily, perhaps. :tearsofjoy:
