2024 Ladder Predictions

What amazing competition there is going to be for Top 4 and Top 8 spots with the existing Top 4 plus Carlton, GWS and Adelaide on the march.

Interesting to note many people tipping Port and Melbourne to drop off.

Bulldogs vs Collingwood GF

Brisbane and Carlton prelim losers

GWS
Melbourne
Sydney
Power/crows other finalists

Bevo to sort shite out and win another flag. Such a good list.

Improve: Adelaide (flag dark horse), GC, Hawthorn, Saints (flag even darker horse)
Stay where they are: Brisbane (top shelf flag contender), Carlton, Collingwood (tsfc), Essendon, Freo, GWS (tsfc), NM, Port, Richmond, Swans, WB, WC
Fall: Geelong, Melbourne

I've got a gut feeling about the Saints...look out...

Is that right, Nostradamus?

Top 8 will be very competitive in 2024, there will be some decent teams miss out.

See there are problems here:

  • You are implying Carlton are "decent". We know you never think that.
  • Proof is in how you predict their downfall every single year. If we were to finish 18th again, improvement doesn't exist in your eyes. If we were certainly on the rise, you'll have us certainly on the fall. In any scenario that sees us potentially winning a flag in the future, you'd be jumping on the "worst premiership winning team ever" bandwagon.

I guess one thing you do well is personify the broken clock.

Nah, I'm willing to concede that Carlton have improved from 'mediocre' to 'decent'.

Though they're still by no means a lock for top 8 in 2024.

You are far too concerned with someone else's opinion. You've got to learn to not stress over something you can't control...

I think its going to be very even again and getting into the top 8 will be harder than ever.

I like GWS, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Pies, Dees and Carlton around the place.

I can't see Carlton not being a serious contender in 2024. I have them top 4

List is dead set in a premiership window and a very strong spine.

Carlton's issue is consistency, if they can figure that out then watch out.

You're right. It is something I can't control.

But it too seems like something you can't change either. Like it's written in your DNA. The same copy and pasted words, only with a brand new shiny date label. Something you merely take ownership of and have used since you first joined this forum.

People have them listed as 18th. Plus were two games from the 8 , id back them in to make it more than not. Youth is so over rated
It is to a point, when players hit that point they go downhill very quickly, my concern for Geelong is Dangerfield and Hawkins, cant see them in the top 8 without big seasons from both and they looked to be waning this year they also lost Isaac Smith and have a number of other key players well on the wrong side of 30, with their youth being okay but not outstanding.

They've proven us wrong before so who knows but for me 2022 was their peak with this team, I wouldn't have them at 18th though probably around where they are this year.

Richmond - Will they struggle of Lynch isn't the player he once was
How do you know that? He played 3.5 games for the year, the year before that he was up there as the top 1 or 2 key forward in the league. If he comes back fit then he will be still a very good player.

Richmond have lost nothing in regard to older players. Riewoldt was beaten nearly every week, had a couple of good games but had 13 games where he scored 1 goal or under. We won't miss that even though he has been great. Much the same with Cotchin, who whilst serviceable to the end can easily be replaced. The problem with stars going a year too long is they take the place of younger players or players that might swap positions and do better.

Half Richmond's problem last year was the coaching became very conservative and loyal to players that didn't necessarily deserve games but were good when we were good. That won't happen this year with a new coach and players will get games on merit. A lot might depend on Dusty, he looked really sharp last part of the season.

Richmond also lost the most games to injury behind WC last year, that shouldn't happen again with a bit of luck.

We had a positive win/loss ratio when we had less than 6 best 22 players missing. The only way there is "no chance" Geelong make the 8 is if they manage to top a historically bad injury run AND most 21-30 year olds form declines, rather than reverting towards 2022 levels.
But your players are so old............ People have no clue to list quality. They just look at age and if you are over 28 to 30 you should rebuild according to BF.

Geelong with their home ground will a top 8 chance no doubt
