I am pleased he is finally out of the club. It gives me more faith in Garlick and the team that they recognised he isn't much chop.
Bit of d1ck move saying we should be top 4 next year and adding pressure to the group.
Yea I’ve never understood that line of thinking… the pressure should always be invitedI mean, how much more pressure could there be?
Fell apart with a top four spot in our grasp this year, JL well into his contract, just traded in a stat player and the team aren’t kids anymore.
I don’t mind it, there will be a lot of talk next year, players and coaches just need to block it out and deliver.
Just stating the obvious.Bit of d1ck move saying we should be top 4 next year and adding pressure to the group.
Just stating the obvious.
Our list is at a level of preparedness where it is at the strategic level that we need to be held to account.
For example, if we play the old stagers and win or lose, that falls to the coach either way.
If Darcy is injured and we run with Jackson as the lonesome ruck, same.
I'm all for holding the coach accountable, and I expect an extension by middle of the year.
Yea I’ve never understood that line of thinking… the pressure should always be invited
If you don’t like pressure , don’t be good then , continue being mediocre
I agree that he dropped the ball in the lead up to 2023 season. The issues around Acres and Logue I believe to be a direct result of Bell’s negotiations. The two players alone aren’t that big a deal but when you factor in Lobb, Meek and Tucker it makes for real depth issues being tested. He doesn't need to state anything on his way out the door though.
It was Bell's job to keep people accountable a month ago, not his role any more.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it but to me he's saying that he's done a terrific job and if we're not top 4 next year others have dropped the ball. Poor form after 2 disappointing seasons full of excuses IMO and little accountability.
Are you serious?lolBit of d1ck move saying we should be top 4 next year and adding pressure to the group.
I think they will take Xavier Lindsay if available, whose disposal bu foot is highly regarded.Another good kicker off half back would explain our interest in Harrison Oliver

Same thing that Chad Warner did to elevate his game.Love reading stuff like this.
Johnson’s private speed training to get into Freo midfield
Matt Johnson spent most of last season playing on the wing for Fremantle, but he’s determined to play as an inside midfielder and that has seen him doing private sessions aimed at improving his explosive speed.www.perthnow.com.au
Fremantle wingman Matt Johnson has spent the last two months doing private training sessions that focus on improving his explosive speed in a bid to get more opportunities alongside the club’s star studded midfielders next season.
Johnson played 19 games last season but was played mostly as a wingman. The 21-year-old showed off his ability to play as an inside midfielder against Richmond in round eight when Nat Fyfe played as the sub, collecting a career-high 25 disposals and kicking one goal.
But Johnson recognised that he needed to do more to convince coach Justin Longmuir to consistently play him alongside Caleb Serong, Andrew Brayshaw and Hayden Young. So he went straight to Fremantle’s Director of Football Performance & Innovation, Adam Beard, and mapped out an off-season plan.
“I spoke with Adam Beard about trying to improve explosiveness out of contests,” Johnson explained from the club’s Community Camp in Karratha.
Johnson is so important to our future success. Fyfe's big body is what protected our mids over the years but also was used to win clearances. When Fyfe retires we are going to miss his presence. I love that Johnson is working on his speed but if he wants to take Fyfe's spot he needs to work on his clearance numbers which were low for the 2024 season.Love reading stuff like this.

He isn't trying to become Fyfe, that's not possible.Johnson is so important to our future success. Fyfe's big body is what protected our mids over the years but also was used to win clearances. We need to replace Fyfe's clearance output, not necessarily the man himself. I don't rate Erasmus and think Johnson is better for that role. If Johnson wants to play full-time mid, he needs to improve his clearance numbers. He isn't trying to become Fyfe, that's not possible.
It's more likely that Erasmus will play the sacrificial mid anyway. Johnson is too good to be protecting others.
Besides, if you have the most elite midfield in the comp then you don't have to worry about ensuring one player gets off the chain, any of them can do it for us. If it isn't Young it's one of Johnson, Brayshaw, Serong dominating.
We're past the days of having one superstar with a support cast.
We need to replace Fyfe's clearance output, not necessarily the man himself. I don't rate Erasmus and think Johnson is better for that role. If Johnson wants to play full-time mid, he needs to improve his clearance numbers.
unfair to say he needs to improve his clearance numbers when hes been played primarily out of the stoppages? given the opportunity i think he can easily replace fyfes output from this season and add something more, especially on the spreadWe need to replace Fyfe's clearance output, not necessarily the man himself. I don't rate Erasmus and think Johnson is better for that role. If Johnson wants to play full-time mid, he needs to improve his clearance numbers.
I have no concerns about our ability to win clearance, that's a strength of this team.We need to replace Fyfe's clearance output, not necessarily the man himself. I don't rate Erasmus and think Johnson is better for that role. If Johnson wants to play full-time mid, he needs to improve his clearance numbers.
If he attended same amount of centre bounces and stoppages as Fyfe last year he would have had as many probably more clearances.Johnson is so important to our future success.
