A preseason game makes more sense from when you could schedule a game. It would make little difference to the broadcast timing.

But preseason product is absolute trash, probably a similar experience to the friendly football games like at the MCG tonight.

Preseason also limits where it can be played because AFL and NRL grounds all reserved for late season games.
