Quite a few Safeties going to be on new teams this off season.

Harrison Smith another that isn't yet settled either way.
Yeah, cant remember this many big names being available at safety. Simmons one surprising cause he is still elite, maybe the release was more him asking to be able to play for a contender at the back end of his career and the team granting his wish.

The Times Picayune’s Jeff Duncan reports the Saints are expected to release Michael Thomas.
Releasing Thomas would result in a dead cap hit of a little more than $18 million for the Saints. It’s been an up-and-down few seasons for Thomas, who has battled through a myriad of injuries since breaking the single-season receptions record in 2019 when he went for 149-1725-9. Over the last four years, Thomas has played in just 20 games, totaling 95 catches for 1,057 yards and four touchdowns. His 2023 was cut short in November when the team placed him on injured reserve with a knee injury, and he dealt with a foot injury leading up to training camp. Assuming his time with the Saints is truly over, Thomas, 31, will leave the team ranking second in franchise history in receptions (565), fourth in yards (6,569), and seventh in receiving touchdowns (36).

Steelers beat writer Gerry Dulac reports the team has interest in signing Russell Wilson.
According to Dulac, Wilson is also interested in the Steelers, as the two sides are expected to meet before the start of free agency. For a team that’s starring down the barrel of another season with Kenny Pickett and/or Mason Rudolph as it’s top two quarterbacks on the roster, Wilson would provide an immediate upgrade for the Steelers at the position. Wilson’s struggles have been well-documented since he joined the Broncos in 2022, but he did throw for 3,070-26-8 last season, and would get a talent receiver group to work with in George Pickens and Diontae Johnson.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Bills are re-signing S Taylor Rapp to a three-year, $14.5 million contract.
The Bills released safeties Siran Neal and Jordan Poyer earlier, choosing to bring back Rapp to rebuild the safety room. Rapp joined the Bills on a one-year deal prior to 2023, starting four games and bringing in one interception. He first entered the league with the Rams, spending four seasons as a starter for the team. The Bills have had to make several moves to free up cap space but now sign Rapp, in addition to QB Mitch Trubisky, to add back to the team.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports the Bills have agreed to terms with QB Mitch Trubisky.
The Athletic’s Tim Graham had reported earlier that the Bills and Trubisky were “in talks to reunite.” Now, Garafolo reports that the Bills have agreed to terms with the 29-year-old quarterback, bringing him back to Buffalo after two seasons with the Steelers. He served as Josh Allen’s backup in 2021 and will return to the role in 2024. Trubisky played in five games in 2023, starting two and throwing for 632 passing yards and four touchdowns with five interceptions. He was cut after the season, giving him the chance to join the Bills prior to free agency.

Saints re-signed S Tyrann Mathieu two a two-year, $13 million contract.
Mathieu has spent the last two seasons with the Saints, playing in all 34 regular season contests while totaling 166 tackles, 17 pass breakups, and seven interceptions. The former first-round pick continues to be at the top of his game despite heading into his 12th season and will be under contract with the team through 2025.

The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue says the Rams are not expected to tender restricted free agent LB Michael Hoecht.
Hoecht is a former undrafted free agent who caught on with the Rams ahead of the 2020 season. Through four seasons, Hoecht has carved out a nice career for himself, starting 26 of the 51 games he’s appeared in while also starting all 17 games last season. In what was essentially a contract year for Hoecht, the veteran linebacker totaled 81 tackles, six sacks, and seven TFLs — all career highs. In addition to Hoect, the Rams are also expected to let linebacker Christian Rozeboom and defensive tackle Jonah Williams test the free agent market.

Exe Gesis will be happy, Steelers clearly lacking a lionheart at QB.

Someone will likely pick him up in a lesser role but it's hard to see how he comes back in any meaningful way.

Derailed by injury and ego.

ego or work ethic? doesnt seem interested anymore.

either he got lazy or thinks he is too good for the team.
dont think there will be many teams calling him. but there will still be 5 or 6 teams that call his agent. Not sure many would offer WR1 reps let alone money.

Basically tore up his old deal worth about $9m a year and gave him a new one for less.

I dislike Wilson but he's better than Pickett/Rudolph. Won't win anything with those two, and would be too run heavy one dimensional.

If he signs for the vet min, there are few teams you could really knock for doing it and taking a look.

It would only be an ego thing, which let's be honest is a chance here, but he would be silly to take away any extra money, that he is getting anyway, that the new team can use to sign/keep help.

He is getting $40m next season anyway. just depends on how much the Broncos pay.
