Wasn't necessarily targeting you with my post.
I think Clark has a unique skillet in the team and that can be utilised in a Lyon coached team that has pace.
I feel he is nothing like Lenny, Steele is our Lenny, his huge tools are his extraction at stoppages, his disposal of both feet( can open a zone with his ulternate use of foot) and his bravery.
He doesn't need to be Micky Conlan, he doesn't need to be quick, but he does need to be fit to run both ways.
Regardless of his skillset, if he doesn't run both ways he won't be in a Lyon coached team.

Agreed, Clark at his best reminds me more of Nicky Dal, but dual sided. The additional speed through the middle will make him even more damaging hopefully. Great vision and brave, just unlucky with recent injury.

Correct. This constant bagging of Clark and his definition gets on my nerves. It's like just concentrating on a players running ability.
How many times have we heard about a player 'built like Tarzan, plays like Jane'?

You are right about Clark's point of difference, especially his two footed kicking.
Last Friday, running at pace, kicks on the left his at target on the tit from 40, a minute later does the same on the right.
He is a very good extractor at stoppages and with the extra pace around him can really be a Pendlebury type for the team setup.

Hopefully it all clicks for him and he's 100% committed. He's got the talent. If he doesn't make the best 22 he's probably under pressure to keep his career going. Hopefully he's ready to go full Jack Sinclair. Same for Byrnes. Both at the right age to jump.

If we have Dow, Henry and Wilson in the side Clark is garuanteed to miss out. Thats exactly why we recruited them and more speed at the draft, because of how badly our slow midfield were exposed last season. As you suggested Clark will maintain pressure on others, but I doubt he is best 23. As I said no team can afford to play more than two slow inside mids and we are exactly the same. In no world is he better than Crouch or Steele at the role and Dow offers break away speed.

Powell is a poor comparison as it was a very different era and Powell was slow but could run all day - Clark cant and never has been able to. His average TOG last season was the worst of any other midfielder on our list, its obvious that other players will go past him.

I hope Hunter does have a break out year, but he has 6-7 years on the list and that hasnt occurred, so the odds are against him. You are also being a bit biased as you have written Max Heath 205cm's off after two years on the list, because of his lack of running capacities but defend Clark who has the same weakness to his game.

Clark has great endurance, terrible pace. He's run the most kms in a game more than once I think.

If he doesn't make the 22 means we are going well.
I am not tied to any player. Its up to them to secure a spot in the team, if they can't well not really my problem.
Suffice to say if the penny hasn't dropped in this Lyon era, we'll he will be out the door, like any player.

Couldn't agree more. Dane Swan went alright for a bloke who had the physical prowess of a lamington.

What an amazing amount of rain this morning......it was 40 days 40 nights sort of stuff.

I was about to unpack the canoe and paddle down to Rsea.

It was very heavy rain for 2.5 hours until I left to go down there......I thought there is no way training would be on in such heavy rain.

With the lights,I'm 10 mins from Rsea and what I cop.....Rsea normally cops.

It doesn't help that Moorabbin is also in the "rain belt"

Incredibly.....parked the car and the rain stopped....was it divine intervention ?....maybe....who knows.

It was great to see big Maxy and big Ro out on the field (under very strict watch)...and not running laps all session.

Even tho I was late to the party.....others advised there wasn't a lot to comment on.

Some were saying "keep an eye on Garcia ...he may surprise"

saintmike65 has been firmly on this train.

One thing that stood out for me was despite the enormous amount of rain....the surface was excellent.....no one seemed to be having any troubles under foot.

How fortunate was the club to get funding for a complete new drainage system 2 years ago.

I remember being shocked at how s**t they were at training under Richo. I remember going to a session at Seaford and it was like watching the under 7s in quality. Looked so amateur and the line coaches looked like they were dicking around trying to be the cool teacher. Compared to the previous Lyon era it was chalk and cheese.

Bonner has been a pretty solid player at Port. Not a bad free hit at a solid best 22 player from a good side. Wouldn't be surprised if he becomes one of those Sean Dempster type of pick ups where he just walks into the best side.
It was the era where we had an introverted shy group with no leaders except Roo & Joey and no accountability.

The 2017 game vs Richmond were we pumped them was a false dawn for us and we crumbled straight after. Was sad for Roo and Joey that they didn't get one more finals game

He was super quick though.

Yeah but that's the point I'm making. Swan had a body that looked like a punching bag that split its stitches but still won a brownlow.

Clark might have the upper body of a rhythmic gymnast, but he's tough as hell on the inside, hard to tackle etc. Body appearance doesn't mean much.

Ty Vickery.

Doc.........you've just moved to next level content !!!!!!!

That is a sensational pic that you've done.

The faces certainly bring back memories.....I shuddered with the face on the far left side.

Incredibly, one of the track watchers was talking about the Gilbey's Gin sign and the old scoreboard at last Monday's training session.

I remember the huge Omega Prouds timeclock next to the scoreboard.

Snowdeli anyone ?????

Swannies footy nous and strength far out weighed Hunters. The question is does Hunter offer enough outside of athleticism to be a role player in a premiership team. If the Hunter we have seen over the past 6 years continues to feature in the best 22 then we are still some way from a premiership.

Hunter will be fine if he doesn't get injured. It's that simple for me.

Really glad he's a Saints player.
Its time gents, I am calling it now.

Can we start the Hunter Clark is the new scapegoat when we lose as well as Hunter vs Jones/Wilson/Windy/Dow comparison like Longer v Hickey?

We just need more irrelevant but highly passionate opinions
