Guys, guys, guys... Let's change the subject.

Here are my favourite Saints players ever

Stewart Lowe
Nathan Bourke
Austen Jones
Jack Stevens
Xavier Clark
Hunter Clarke
You’re a bad person.

Does anyone remember Richmond ruck prospect Samson Ryan's debut in 2021?

0 disp, 1 clanger (turnover), 1 hit out (1/8 ruck contests), 2 pressure acts, 1 smother, 1 free ag, 1 one percenter

He was 21 at the time and the Tigers rate him internally.

I can confidently say this at least... Big Max would have a better debut.
I’ve heard of setting the bar low but this is ridiculous!

Firstly, it's Bonner, not Bonnar.

Secondly, no one is saying Bonner cannot be in our best 22, its just that there are some parts to the game that you just cannot assess as an outside observer of training sessions; such as positioning, tactical setup etc. Everyone has said that his skills are looking good, and no one is doubting that, but skills aren't the only part you need to consider when evaluating a player. Clearly there are deficiencies to his game that meant he was delisted and also rejected by 16 other clubs during the DFA period before we picked him up at the PSD. Massimo D'Ambrosio is a beautiful kick of the ball, but Essendon opted to trade him because he just cannot defend at all.

Sorry to jump back to this discussion but one thing I feel has been glossed over is that I thought players picked up in the PSD were able to put a price on their contract, and typically only get picked up by clubs they've been in talks with/agreed to a contract. (Jack Martin as an example).

I don't really understand why we wouldn't have just picked him up as a DFA if this were the case though.

We could have taken him in the rookie draft if we wanted him on a bare bones contract, but then he wouldn't be able to play unless we had an LTI I believe.

Our DFA offer would have been a minimum, which he wouldn't have accepted and decided to go to the draft, knowing that St Kilda would pick him up if no other club offered a better deal.

In reality, win-win for Bonner, and a 'we only pay the minimum' deal for us with the risk of him getting taken by another team.

You'd have to expect that desirable players have a large say in their destination through the PSD and clubs will not likely select a guy against his will.

I don’t think it’s
likely that Hill would be left out

Agree with what is being said on Max Heath. There was a drill early in the session on the boundary line. Ball thrown in and Ruck contest then mids getting to work. Poor Max was stuffed after about 6 contests in 3 mins against RoMa. He won a couple of taps but geez it's another VFL season and seeing if he can progress that fitness level by the look of it.

Bloody RoMa smiling all the way through it too.
Don’t forget he’s only 21 this is only his 3rd pre season. He was a mid season pick up in 2021.

For context Rowan Marshall was drafted at 21 and took a few years to get a run.

Im not saying he’ll make it but he’s just going to need a few more years before he he’s ready.

Was thrown around in the midfield/wing last year and it did him no favours.

His best chance of staying on a list is getting back to the small lockdown type he was before the broken leg.

He was the best of Clark and Coff draft year players in Ratt's first year.

Why not just spell it correctly in the first place. Why let all standards slip? Why don’t we all just go into the streets nude and fling shite at each other?
Something to think about Jake

I've been to Perth. Not sure of your accuracy.

Think Wilson probably starts as part of the wing/high half forward rotation and then will turn into a genuine mid over time.

Think probably Seb Ross/Josh Kelly inside first receiver rather than extractor though.

Surely Hunter Clarke will get a game?

Calm down hero the alleys of your city are practically flowing with piss and all the other bodily fluids 😎
I’m sure Perth’s alley is lovely.

I was out in the city last night. Might have cleaned it up for the AO. Looked mint.
