The core isn’t Sinclair Marshall Steele Membrey crouch etc.

They are building around the group led by King. So, Owens windy NAS Pou Caminiti Wilson Sharman Henry etc
Jeez - I hope that's your opinion and not the clubs.

I'm not sure I can wait around for years hoping that this round of young players become superstars rather than another collection of Billings, Coffield and Greshams.

Yes I reckon we need to win it what Sincs is still there.

We need the best of our older players and the best of our new youngster to combine to make us a flag threat. With some of the youngsters pushing out players like say Ross.

Otherwise I fear our best 22 will still not be good enough if we wait till Sincs and others have retired.

Can see the logic of trying to open a window on both timelines, but prioritising the King timeline when genuinely big decisions need to be made (ie a longer-term sustainable challenge).

Planned or not, we did exactly that in the early 2000s. With a bit of luck we could have pinched one in 04/05 with Aussie, Harves, GTrain, Hamill, Thompson, Powell and Peckett as the core, surrounded by gun emerging kids.

That is our Sincs, Wilkie, Steele, Crouch, Roma, Wood & Hill timeline currently.

But the consistantly dominant team didnt come until Lenny, Roo, Fish, Milne, BJ, Gram and Dal hit their peak together

Fingers crossed that is the King, Owens, Windy, Pou, NWM, Clark & Wilson timeline you are referring to.

*Im also sure we tried a version of this transition in 11-15. But we cut too hard into the older core (leaving only Roo, Joey, Lenny, Fish and Dempster), traded out those that were well placed to bridge both gens (Goddard, McEvoy, Dawson, Lynch & Dal) - partly out of necessity because of a screwed salary cap and limited access to the draft in 11/12 - and the gun kids never developed into true A graders and took over leadership of the group (Billings, McCartin, Dunstan, Acres, Longer, Gresham and Newnes).

Shows the importance of staggering the exits of Sincs, Wilkie, Steele, Crouch, Roma, Wood & Hill over the next 2-5 years - and making sure the handover isnt rushed. Want to see a couple of these still running around

I don't think we'll make final this year anyway but the question remains if Ross will play the kids at all costs, I think he'll throw everything at the first 6 week phase of the season and reassess then.
Largely agree; 99% of the time the first five rounds determines the season. Win 3/5 we're in with a shot of finals...with the way our early rounds are though, we could easily be 2/5. But if that's the case, I doubt any of them will be blowouts (maybe the first round - if we lose -but the first round is basically a competition wide warm up) So, if we are taking it up to the heavyweights and pundits favourites of the comp, then Ross may still roll with a tried and tested team for half the season whilst we churn through the middle order teams. Depending on how that goes, we may then see more youth.
I like the idea of drip feeding kids through the team, but the reality is that they need a decent block. If we're going well, I doubt Ross is going to give kids 5-10 games to get a feeling for it. Coaches rarely do, unless injuries hit.

He left out Joffa too, he was one of the most regular.
Has as many brain cells in his head as he has hair follicles on it…

I was setting up a joke but none of you dumb campaigners played along. I wanted cries for Geoffrey Adolescent Male, then I'd post this

Then you'd all laugh, and he'd be added anyway. Alas, you're all dumb campaigners and didn't play along. Too bad so sad 😭😭

I didn't respond as I don't want to be added to some soy boy 4chan circle jerk for doing a service that I am privileged enough to provide.
A badge FFS, maybe a gold star on the forehead as well.
Leave me completely out of this rubbish please.

Yep we've got
  1. two current AA players (Sinclair & Wilkie),
  2. Marshall (pretty much on a par with last years AA ruckman Tim English),
  3. a 28 yo two time AA player (Steele),
  4. a solid group of second tier players of the likes of Membrey, Battle, Hill, Wood Higgins, Butler etc etc etc
  5. an exciting group of youngsters (including potentially at least one genuine superstar in King)

but yeah lets wait for a few years
