While i prefer Voss doesn’t step too far away from our contested game, I think it's great that we are banking wins and improving our turnover game

A few other myths have been dispelled. Kennedy and Hewett can coexist in the same side and have impact

Hewett, Elijah, Kennedy all rotated and or spent time in the forward arc

Cerra did stints at HB. Harry is cashing in on a huge couple of preseasons

This side is building cohesion

I really hope we work in the balance of Kennedys game, he’s a contested mid who has a good kick going in to 50 and strong overhead, I think we had the balance wrong in the first two games and he played too much forward.

Elijah helped that balance, sum of all parts

Yes Kennedy seemed to spend more time in the midfield. Sent a reminder to the coaches of how good a player he is. So strong and combines really well with Cripps. I thought he was good and can get better.
There were a couple of MK plays y’day where he just bounced off, or wrenched the ball out of the hands of, a Norf player. Very impressive, just was a big boss boy out there.

Glad to see Fogarty starting to get the recognition he deserves. Since his return to the team against the Suns in 2023 the momentum of the team has swung, and individually he's sitting on a W/L ratio of 13-2 with those losses coming in a Rd 24 dead rubber against the Giants and the prelim final against the Lions (where he was subbed off).

Whilst he isn't solely responsible for the wins, I think there's something to be said about the impact some players have had to the structure and culture of the team - his defensive efforts in the forward line had helped give more space to Charlie and Harry and kept opposition defence accountable on the rebound.

I love his pressuring and tackling which are no doubt the traits that got him back into the team. Fog just needs to work on his goal kicking so he capitalize on the chances he creates. But other than that it has been a remarkable turnaround in how he has been able to get back into and cement his spot in a team that is contending.

Fog will never be a good kick at goal - a bad back leading to hamstring issues - closes the door on long kicks and even shorter kicks under stress. He is a good link man because he has a brain and a good tackler - because he has good technique - only faster legs, longer kicks and contested marking ability in another player - will keep him out of the side.

Things will get 'interesting' at selection time in a couple of weeks.

I know that team bonding has stepped up a notch, but can someone explain wtf is going on here…? 😀
It was a chest-bump, after one of Owies' goals (his first one, I think). Owies is an All-Australian celebrator, and the chest-bump was impeccably executed, despite the non-trivial height difference involved - I remember watching it at the time and thinking, jeez, they must actually practice that!

There’s still opportunities where he and a few others could take their chance when within range Jab, he’s such a team first unselfish player along with all the traits you mentioned, would love to see him rewarded more for his continuous selfless team acts…

I think his 'safe' distance is less than 25 meters tbh - but if you watch his kicking action - it will never be a safe bet - and that isnt a knock on him - I think he is physically constrained. The general issue we have in the small forwards is lack of finishing class - it is always a grind unfortunately- this is the difference between genuine class we see in 'neat' players like Cuningham and Martin ( and even Fantasia with ball in hand) and blokes who are there for their defensive work and pressure. Motlop might become more than just that - and it looks like Moir has that factor X but not the body yet. Thst is ok - hard to have a forward dlne chocka block full of match winenrs.

Motlop, and I think Durdin, can be the small forwards with finishing class

I hope so Stamos - that would make Carlton a. formidable side - maybe good enough to win a flag or two.

We’ve been on the same page with our lack of impact forwards for a few years from what i remember, spot on with your points , Motlop i believe will become a really good player for us, Durdin as well..
Moir is very naturally gifted player as a forward and exactly what we’re crying out for, juice hopefully will be worth the squeeze…

Three thoughts about the game vs Norf.

1) We beat Norf from pillar to post.

2) Norf aren’t a very good side.

3) Jy Simpkin has perfect bone structure.

It’s interesting though, RPCB. I reckon they’re a better side than last year (plenty of talent in the team), and we didn’t beat them pillar to post.

I’m taking the game as clear sign of our improvement.

We always looked calm to me. Even if North got a couple of goals, we always looked like we knew what we had to do to get the balance going our way again.

They do have some really good young players but they will still be a clear bottom 3 side this year. That doesn’t mean they are West Coast levels of bad by any stretch.
