Re Charlie - I might be wrong... but i swear i read an article around 12-18 months ago where Vossy said theyd never use Charlie consistently as a leadup again as the stress on his knee was too much.

Don't recall seeing that but it would make sense. Jonathan Brown really struggled with injury when played at CHF but had a much better run once they started playing him out of the square. Its not a 100% correlation but I think the extra km that comes with a more traditional CHF role puts more strain on the body for these big guys.

That said, its been a few years and Charlie has been ok so we might be more open to it now. I don't think he'll ever be traditional CHF again (not just because of injury but because he is so good inside 50), but he might push up the ground more. If he's getting beaten it can help him lose his opponent, then beat them running back inside 50. A bit like Jeremy Cameron.

Charlie deep, Harry High pants. Harry getting up and being able to out mark on the wing turn and go into a deep Charlie. Yum yum. Saw a food van today, tag line was not all dumplings are made equal. Couldn't agree more. Same goes for fwd half set ups.

registering to watch players run around an oval.........what a joke..........
I think it may be to get an idea of the numbers, but I could be wrong.

What was a joke last year was when they held an open training session in January, and the only section they had open on arrival was the ground level terracing in the hot sun on a 27 degree day. The Legends Stand of course was under cover but they weren't allowing anyone to sit in the shaded area for whatever reason - and actually had a security guy turning people back who had the audacity of wanting to sit in the shade.

It was only through the efforts of Terry BlueAbroad who spoke to a few club officials - who then made the decision to open up the stand and allow people to sit in the shaded area.

As much as I love the club to death, sometimes they treat the supporters pretty poorly, and have done so for many years. One day I may even tell the story of the letter I sent to the club back in the early 80's expressing my concern of the way they were treating supporters during the year, and the letter of response personally signed by Ian Collins which would make you hair curl

How can you find out dates the team will be training or is it all done behind closed doors even during pre-season?
I am heading over to Melb end of Jan with the family, be cool to check out some training or get down to the club.

Usually open training sessions are advertised ahead of time. Aside from that it's behind closed doors. Not sure whether you'd have any luck getting to any of those. Others on here could better guide you but I'd assume its a no unless you happen to know someone.

The club officially reopens on this coming Monday 15th, you can ring the club which may have information days/dates on upcoming open day training sessions, it might be worth a shot calling them then to see if they can help you…

As MM3 has said they are normally put up on the clubs website, information on open training sessions, community camps and interstate training trips should all be provided in the coming weeks…

That's amazing if Charlie is in the Top 5 !!!!! He's in for a MONSTER year!!!! Would love to see him using that pace and endurance to pull defenders up to the wing to allow Harry to be 1 on 1 near the goal square. He's one of the very few players in the entire competition who doesn't have a match-up!!!

I think this is missing some hitting the logos type of lingo…

Walsh is arguably the hardest in-game runner in the comp. 2km trial gives an indication but really isn't THAT helpful.

Regardless, I'm very happy to see Binns and Elijah up there. Binnsy may very well have a break out year. I can feel a huge one coming for him.
Would be interested to know how Rob Monahan went, since he's meant to be an elite athlete.

From what I saw at the last training session, would be top 5 in the blend of speed/endurance

Apparently in a 2KM trial in Ireland, broke 6 minutes
need to take into account northern hemisphere trial would be run in the opposite direction...........

And of course Duffy won the 2km trial. It's fairly clear the type of player that Vossy and co have got their minds set on.

Monahan's burst of speed at the training session though was a bit of an eye opener. Looks a real athlete.

there was a very cheeky turn into traffic from Pitt in that video, slid right between two oncoming tacklers. good on him i don't remember seeing him move like that in a match
Starts his returns from long term injury like that, tends to fade away. He was an extremely athletic junior, but a bunch of chronic knee/ankle issues never seem to heal.

He did it a second time, but it wasn't as sharp.

10 News showed about 10 seconds from training. Mitch McGovern with bright orange hair apparently as a result of losing a bet.
