Who will be the surprise team that falls out of rhe top 8.

1. Lions
2. GWS
3. Freo
4. Carlton

5. Collingwood
6..Swans
7. Geelong
8. Gold Coast
9. Bulldogs
10. Hawks
11. Port

12. Bombers
13,. Crows
14. Saints
15. Demons

16. Eagles
17. North
18 Tigers

The top 4 contenders IMO

Throw a net over 5 to 11 and any side could make or miss finals. Each has question marks on a key area or two. Will they improve or go backwards in 2025?

The next group I just can not see improving enough to jump into the top eight.

The bottom 3 stay the same but I think North and Eagles will win a couple more games each and show more competitiveness than 2024. Richmond could be in for a really tough year if it loses so many mature players and focus entirely on youth. Big list turnnover there so will simply take time for that list to develop and gel. Get those first 50 games into the promising kids.

Could make a genuine case for all of the top 8 to fall out of the 8

Brisbane - teams haven't backed up flags well recently. Daniher potentially gone, Neale potentially a limited preseason. Who are the tall forwards they can rely on?

Sydney - teams don't back up well from GF thumpings. Tall forwards still a worry. Weren't great the back half of the season

Port - key position players still a worry, Houston likely gone. Distraction of Ken's last year of contract

Geelong - which is the real Geelong? The one that started well, middled badly or came home pretty well. Midfield still a weakness, Dangerfield was vital but another year older

GWS - apart from the first 5 weeks they were just going for most of the year. 5-6 of their core players will be 30+, losing depth with Perryman, Cumming going

Hawthorn - key forwards a concern, is this a year out of the box and then regress the next year like many sides do, will coaches find them out now they know what to look at

Bulldogs - they are the Dogs, always yoyoing around the 5-10 mediocrity. Is Lobb's backline success just a one off, 4 or 5 senior players will be 32+, Macrae and Daniel going will test their depth

Carlton - who will kick their goals apart from Curnow and McKay, an awful end to the season, do they have enough outside run
