Training 2025 Pre-Season - Standards are currently being driven

I’m loving the fact that multiple reports have Whitlock going out of his way to be an absolute pest and irritate our forwards. Scotty Thompson would be proud. Not bad for an 18 year old 2 months into his AFL career. Have a very good feeling about this kid.

Clarko will be great for him.

Just got back, stayed for most of the session. Few observations from match sim.

Teams were fairly evenly matched. Maybe the blue team slightly stronger up forward.

LDU looks primed, glides across the ground, steps through traffic and hit some really nice passes, hitting up targets and switching across the ground

Sheez - Just does everything with class. His footy IQ would have to be up there with best in the league. Seems to be playing wherever the hell he wants. AA this year, I would book mark it.

CD - I went on Friday and today, easily the MVP of the match sim I saw. Whether that was hitting the 45 target on the inside, overlap run. Just never misses a target and those he hits arnt always the easiest option. Will really open up the transition from defensive 50 next year. Worth every part of pick 25 at this stage.

Darling - Generally played deepest forward and is just a smart player, always has great positioning on his opponent and is really strong once he takes his position. Would not be surprised if he kicks 30 plus this year. Wasnt the biggest fan of his recruitment but looks good on the track.

Bull - Played majority midfield today, was cracking in and got a few clearances. Looks fitter so hopefully we see more than the odd burst on ball.

FOS - Watched him closely today and is as advertised. Ball use is first class, glides across the ground. Very LDU like. Has that rare ability to make traffic stop around him while he is standing still. Nice size to, looks strong through the core and would not be surprised at all if is named round 1. Dare I say it, could be the replacement for TT and what he was meant to be.

Paul Curtis - Found some nice link up on the outside, delivery was first class and to advantage. Always looks super strong in the contest. Big year.

Parker - Just oozes leadership, knows where to be. Knows when to get the quick kick / tap on or when to hold up and release. Definitely still has top class footy left in him.

Whitlock - Again was playing defense, 1 nice contest mark that I noticed, ball use was nice. Again being a pest towards his opponent, this time it was big X he was trying to annoy. Possibly a screw or 2 loose. I like it!!

Wardlaw - Dont think he knows what taking is easy is. 100% effort 100% of the time. Some nice duels with Parker. kicking was generally ok, not the best, not the worst. As we have seen, can hit some absolutes bullets but can also fluff them. Hopefully with an increased tank he can reduce the misses out of his game.

Hansen Jnr - Really like his ball use. Doesnt look undersize body wise anymore. Hope he gets a few games early and can continue with the way he finished off the year.

Goad - There is definitely something there. The way he moves and even his kicking action, really reminds me of Luke Jackson. If we could get half that then we have a good player.

Xerri - Just looks primed. You can tell he knows he is good now. Release handballs, stop and props, fakes, cant be moved in the ruck. Think he takes over as the leagues number 1 big man this year.

CCJ - does anyone recall which leg he injured? His right leg looked about half the size of his left so im guess is was the right. Wasnt training but going by that he would be a mile off it.

Rehab group was the same as Friday. Chom, Durs, Payne, both Dawsons, George. There were getting in some ball work with all the running though.

Thats about it for now. Bring on the new year.

Merry Christmas all.
Thanks for the effort but I for one found this thoroughly underwhelming, poorly written and derivative. 1/5 stars.
Did not discuss every player on the list and left off everyone's favourite players Jy, LMac and Stephens.

Clearly not enough Pulitzer Prize winners in Big Footy circles.

Maybe we should ask Scotty D to come down and give him a few tips?

What's with the conflicting reports around some players? E.g. someone said PC was off injured, others have said 'wow he looks great!' What was the conclusion on that?

Edit: In saying that, thanks to all for the reports - they are always fun to read.

There was match sim, followed by a training session.

Reports were Curtis played well in match sim and then left the training session before it ended.

Talk was that clarko said post training someone did a calf, but that it was Darcy Tucker.

Either way. About 3 weeks before training starts again so whoever it was shouldn’t miss a lot of footy

Missed the start so guessing they started early.
Caught the last 15 of match sim. Ground is very wet but skills generally good considering.
Sheez was back to one touch today.
Caleb Daniel still refuses to miss a target.
Parker is going to be so good around stoppages, whether directing set ups or just getting to the drop of the ball.
Paul Curtis looked dangerous forward and pushing up to the ball to receive on the outside and delivering into 50.
Finbar..can clunk then but geez, unless it’s lining up for goal, should never kick it.

The boys have gone into the rooms so hopefully more when they come back out.
Someone has just copied and pasted your post word for word onto the North Melbourne Shinboners Facebook Page!!

That is, unless you are The North Melbourne Shinboners!

Random question without notice.... Do we think the AFL may have seen better results if they'd put Southport Sharks in, instead of creating the Sun's?

Sent from my SM-G781B using BigFooty.com mobile app
Absolutely yes.....a real club with a history and culture to go with it. Founded in 1961 and have over 50k members! Fathom that. The Suns are manufactured and more or less Brisbane Bears mark 2, with only the merging with Fitzroy and moving them to Brisbane that made a difference.

only need to look at their facilities to know they're financially pretty powerful, and little wonder they having a good crack at VFL level.....no coffee cart though, patrons have to make do with a couple of cafe's, a hotel, a couple of restaurants and bars.

You really have to wonder what the AFL's objectives are/were overlooking such a club in favour of starting the Suns from scratch!

Just a friendly, casual, cold blooded assassination.

Southport wouldn’t become an AFL owned cuck.

Someone has mentioned it in the comments on FB.

Having now seen him in person, it looks like a stiff breeze could snap him in half.
I wouldn't expect him to play seniors this year, needs to put on some size.

Nope totally agree with that. Give him a couple more preseasons however and I reckon we’ve found one.

That’s pretty bloody cheeky for somebody to copy & paste something like that & not give it any credit.

It’s somebody here.
