It was during match simulation where Oliver came into his own and showed he is ready and raring to go for a monster 2025 season.

Oliver was dominant through the midfield finding plenty of the footy. He was strong around the coalface, regularly shovelling the ball out to his outside runners.

But it was his work rate that really caught the eye. Oliver worked hard all session getting to as many contests as possible and running hard so that he could become another option for teammates.

He’s not known for his ball use, but Oliver rarely wasted a possession at Gosch’s Paddock on Wednesday, often finding forwards on a lead with neat kicks inside 50.


He tackled strongly and corralled when necessary, but it was the multiple diving smothers that were most impressive, Oliver literally throwing everything he could at the footy.

Nothing to be excited about. Another player that will be 70%+ owned. What a strange year where there are about 8 locks

Last year Dawson was shunted around the ground to fill gaps caused by injuries to key talls …. that situation no longer exists …. fully fit list, so IMO Dawson plays mid !

Dusty he’s trained practically exclusively as a forward all pre season thus far.

Think you’ll find he’s set to take Murphy’s role as a pressure forward who can push up the ground.

Could get some CBA’s but no evidence of that yet. We are also historically rarely a tagging side under Nicks.

According to the track watch article on the superfooty website, Day dominated and hardly left the centre square. Amazing that two people who were at the training session can have such vastly differing views.

Wasn’t there to witness myself, but all the reports from today’s North match sim suggested that Sheezel was very much playing forward, while Powell and Phillips were dominant in the middle.

Daniel and Xerri were playing the roles you’d expect.

No first years playing today. But as for our other rookie-priced types, Goad, Maley, Hardeman, and Goater all got positive wraps. Tho you’d imagine only the latter two are in serious contention for round one.

I think maley is close for round 1. Switching with comben either kpf or intercept defending/ relief ruck.
