Yeah, I think he's done. He hasn't been able to bulk up at all and doesn't have the innate knack of accumulation. Then there are the other flankers coming on. Leaves him in no man's land.

Hugely disappointing 180 from my hopes he'd break out as a full-time member of the back six. If he picks it up somehow, I'll be delighted. Love the way he kicks it
Yep. Is he concentrating too much on defense or does he just not know how to find the ball? Not much point having good disposal if you can't get a kick.

Agree there have been the odd favourable signs there, but as it stands this is the list of OOC players this year, and at this juncture there's only about [emoji640] I'd draw a line through before I get to his name.

I know this is the Miller Bergman thread, but Luke Parker shouldn’t be on that list.

Mate we can't afford to keep blokes on the list for another two years if they're not showing much.

So far all he has shown is a couple of decent kicks and an inability to physically compete.

It's the Flynn Perez effect. A bloke does 2-3 good things in his first couple of games and we cling onto them forever.

Looked like he had bigger shoulders watching him live, but whether it's enough muscle we'll see.
Definitely uses the ball well but but not as athletic as Hardemann, so it'll be an interesting HBF selection battle.

He has been on an AFL list for 3 years. That's a long time to transform your body.

I rate some of his attributes but he needs a blinder of a year to climb the pecking order in his position, IMO. Not completely unachievable but he's up against it.
Another comparison - Trent Rivers.

Skillful skinny backmen taken in a similar draft range in their respective draft years.

Rivers bulked up and brought it to AFL. Bergman for whatever reason hasn't been able to fortify his body to a suitable level as yet.

Close but Rivers is more athletic from what I've seen. I think we picked Mahony didn't we back then lol?

Think Rivers was part of what they turned our pick 8 into wasn't he.....Pickett and Rivers I thought.
Yep you are right. Pick 8 was 10 (12) (Pickett) and 28 (32) (Rivers) and F4 or something.
Sorry I was wrong we took Comben pick 31 before Rivers was pick 32, that's fine with me.
Mahony 34 and Perez 35.

Love how we are comparing opposition players to ours.

Guarantee you if they were brought into our system they wouldn't be flourishing. We've had issues with development and getting players to get their body ready for the AFL.

That has been the case until recently where that segment of the footy department was overhauled and now our players are starting to look more developed. The rot starts at the top not the player.

Trent Rivers?
There's a much more obvious body comparison.
It aint all about size, he needs to work a hell a lot on running and kicking.

Quo vadis?

4th season, no real sense of momentum or improvement so far in his career.

Good skills, class but bit of the invisible man the last 12 months, injuries notwithstanding.
Probably nowhere.

He is a weird one. He seems to have the tools to make it as a half-back distributor but isn't able to find the footy anywhere near enough. Maybe it will suddenly click for him, but time is running out.

He is neither here nor there.

Has decent speed without being line breaking quick.

Has decent skills without being truly elite.

Has the ability to be decent defensively but not good enough to be purely a lockdown type.

Has courage, but ultimately isn’t physical enough because of his physique.

I think the defining factor though, is his inability to find the ball regularly. Averaging high teens disposals in the VFL 4 years into your career just isn’t going to cut the mustard.
