Why would I death ride him? I love him as a player but I'm not gonna hope for an injury or s**t form for the current 22 so he gets a crack at it.
That' the point though isn't it? Why is anyone death riding him? Why is anyone staking their reputation as a pundit on him failing? Why would anyone place themselves in a position where it become more important to them that they be proven right as opposed to being wrong and the team improving?

He's clean at ground level, tough, balanced and decent near goal. Would be curious I'm how he'd go in a Leigh Adams role playing an assist role through the forward 50.

Reckon he should ask for more minutes forward in the VFL to show the selectors he does actually have that versatility - that he can win contested ball in the forward half and hit up targets, maybe kick a few.

I'm not? I legit think he's a gun and want to see him flourish, I just suspect that'll be elsewhere.

I don't have a reputation, lol. I'm just a guy slinging thoughts on a footy forum.

Will would be my first pick as the last kick inside 50. Seems to always pick the right option and kick it into space for the forwards to run into.

I really wouldn’t mind him at half-forward. It would increase our defensive pressure and would increase our chances of marks inside 50.

Would be a great challenge for him and the coaching staff. One of the hardest roles to play these days in football, and often not recognized outside a club. Look at the likes of Neal-Bullen at Melb, Miers and Close at Geelong and in recent times Puopolo at the Hawks to name a few. Doesn't have the tank atm to tag a gun midfielder, so this ain’t the worst suggestion on this board.

I haven't seen anything remarkable from him in that regard and think that Powell, Sheezel and Curtis give us good service but he is definitely a neat kick over 30m.

HF is an option, although he doesn't play with speed naturally, but agree we have to see it.

The issue there is that those types of guys are typically right at the top end in running power/endurance. I do agree we need one but in terms of attributes Simpkin is probably the best option to play that half-forward up and back all game role.

^ LOL

Not even a month into the season. Hilarious
Remember the old Dracula movies with the late Christopher Lee {He was the best Dracula imo } when he was the bad guy and at some stage the brazen villagers would march up to the castle with their pitchforks and torches and would attempt to burn down the castle? Like it or hate it Will seems to be cast in the role of Dracula and the villagers seem to be some of us, now before someone posts that they just can't see it with Will, how about we give him the whole year to see what happens and then whatever will be will be.

Ha I think there's one playing on 9GEM HD 2AM this Sunday morning. I haven't seen any of them but noticed it in the guide.

Clean clearances work better with him in the mix. I find it odd that we load up on midfield dominance but ignore that in preference for a backline that focuses on attack at the expense of defence when it was already a weakness.

For those who are saying that he needs to earn his time in the twos and prove his form and fitness, I think we need to imbed this culture.

But as is evidenced by McDonald and Simpkin coming straight back in, untested and underdone, Clarkson has thrown this culture on the scrap heap.

So I say, play him. What the f*ck is going to the difference?

Different rules and standards apply to different players.

Purely on principle, I’d drop Zurhaar and bring Phillips in. One guy drinks his own bathwater and think he’s too good for this club that he can pick and choose when to try… The other just wants to play deserves to a go at finding his spot in the structure of this young team.
Sheezel forward, Cam out, Phillips in. Don’t care. Whatever it takes.

Best thing for Will is to make his form in the VFL too good to not be promoted, i'm a fan still, but don't think he's actually done that yet, head down, bum up, get to work.
I've said it before but the worst thing about that stupid Reacher Round that we've just endured is the VFL taking the week off for a bye just two weeks into their season. As if the players need the rest so soon. Coming off our worst performance for the year, we really need players in the VFL pushing their case but they didn't get the chance. Sadly, if Will (and Sellers and Maley and one or two others in contention) hadn't done enough to earn a spot last week, then it's hard to justify any changes this week on the basis of form being too good to not be promoted.

Not sure why Will is not in , would make us better. Might be something going on here as some have mentioned the real reason he is not in.
It's possible but that something may not necessarily be sinister or a career threatening concern. It could simply be that Clarko and the selectors recognise a specific flaw that they want Will to work on and until they see improvement in that specific area, he needs to keep plying his trade at the lower level.

I can understand why the SANFL had the bye, but why the VFL?
