Who makes way for Will?

None of this "bailey scott for Will" rubbish please. One is a skinny running wing (being forced to play def) while the other is an inside bull.

Realistic options?

Any bench player. He can just come off the bench and be part of midfield rotations it's that simple.

I know there is a great danger that Will may actually be a bust. I’m still hanging onto to a slim thread of hope that he will come good. In some ways, he reminds of a taller version of Caleb Daniel. Maybe, even, Sam Mitchell. However, right now, there’s nothing to suggest he’s fit to lace their boots. If Will gets selected, it will give me renewed hope that Clarko thinks he’s got what it takes. That, in itself, would be wonderful news. For some reason, a lot of us just plain like Will Phillips.

Putting aside WilPhil for a moment, that clip shows what an incredible coach Emma Kearney is going to be.
We should all earnestly hope that Will can “cut it” as an AFL player. The excellent leadership attributes that he would bring to the table would be immeasurable.

putting him at the centre might allow a few to be released, only bodes well if this can pull off.

I remember luke ball going to pies allow swan to do a lot of the attacking job culminating in the 2010 flag and 2011 domination of the competition until the final day...

Doesn't do enough in the VFL to warrant a call up. Should be getting 30 to 40 possessions at that level for such a high pick.

He's been disappointing to say the least
Clarko to Will: ignore structures and defence. Just run around and screaming at your teammates for the footy, we need to impress the flogs on Big Footy.

Anyone who hasn’t really performed over the last 3 weeks:

-Wardlaw
-Lazz (would much rather him on the wing or HF)
-Simpkin (out of sorts massively, needs touch in the 2s- why again is it a sound strategy to play players back into form in the 1s?
-Stephens (has been pox so far. Shift Jy to wing. Play Will as the rotating HF/Mid.
Duursma (needs a rest)

Who can’t he replace?

In Clarkson's structure, Powell, Wardlaw, and LDU are taking most of the responsibility in the middle, with two half forwards pushing up into the middle with one of those players getting the occasional CBA. At the moment those half forwards are Simpkin and McKercher, but ideally we're seeing Sheezel in that role before the end of the year.

I don't see a spot here for Phillips, and if anything I'm more concerned about getting Sheezel and Simpkin more involved in the middle.

The VFL form is ok, but I don't think it shows that he is the short term answer to any of our problems. I like Phillips as a player, but Powell has completely gone past him and it leaves him without a role at senior level. He'll get his taste this year due to injuries, suspensions, and the occasional rest, but currently I don't think his VFL form warrants upsetting our existing structure.

I know the counterpoint is that our structure is apparently broken, but you have to keep pumping games into Wardlaw, Powell, and McKercher, and that leaves only LDU and Simpkin. LDU is on track to place in our B&F, and Simpkin is our captain and will be given every chance to find his form before they drop him for Phillips. It's a long year, and for now, Phillips needs to keep waiting for his chance.

I'm not making excuses. I think that expecting a number of touches is just SuperCoach mindset rubbish.
Just hoping for a more balanced game, this is reflected in the coaches votes. Watkins played a better game and two of the lions mids were ranked above him, that's got nothing to do with super coach.

Such a hard team to break in to.
