Amazing how I was absolutely pilloried for suggesting Phillips been a tad underwhelming.

Nah I'm a dickhead, written him off, etc etc which I never said once.

Then our coach says exactly what I did a week later.

So yes he is behind the others (which is fine) as all I said to start with and not a "ready to go mid at AFL level" as so-called draft experts said.

It's a bullish!t rumour and it needs to be called out. Insinuating that "the club" overruled someone in the recruiting team is New Idea level making sh!t up.

And falling back on the old, "Scooby is always accurate" is rubbish. Come on. He posts vague nonsense like the sky is blue or total crap that misses the mark.

Here's a suggestion for Scooby. Next time some disenchanted and disenfranchised former big wheel at the cracker factory passes on some gossip designed to undermine the confidence of an 18 year old recruit in order to pay back some ancient inner sanctum vendetta, maybe think twice about being the stooge who posts it. If the source of your rumour doesn't have the backbone to put his own name to this sh!t, then why should you? You're not a political journalist. You are under no obligation to cover "both sides."

It’s ok some people on here just want to add words to peoples comments to try make an argument. Everyone knows he is behind the others including, staff, managers BUT no one has ever said he won’t be any good. Some just need to take a chill pill

Who actually “deceived” you? People on big footy?

No one at the club ever said he would be ready to go Round 1. For all we know, we may have had in mind to develop his craft in the VFL, especially when you consider the footy he has missed.

The only people who could have “deceived” us on the selection of Phillips is the club that picked him. The club has never made any predictions on what output Phillips will give in his first year.

He is a player we hope that plays for us for 15 years, who gives a crap what he does in Round 1.

I genuinely appreciate the contribution, but You left yourself open to that though with your vagueness and tone. I'm going to ride the fence here, I don't think you deserve some (most?) of the shellacking you're getting but also think that if you're going to post something like that you should probably be much more careful and precise, and if you're not able to then maybe just don't post it at all.

Your follow up comment about Hollands being the OG choice could have easily been part of your first post and probably would have helped skipped most of the drama fwiw.

You should probably know better about how such comments get construed around here scooby.

I certainly wouldn't have posted it, regardless of how strong I felt about a source. Nothing good can come from it.
