FFS can we stop eating our own!

I for one and damn happy we picked up this young bloke. I can't wait to see him weave his magic on the field in the Blue and White over the next 10-15 years!

It’s ok some people on here just want to add words to peoples comments to try make an argument. Everyone knows he is behind the others including, staff, managers BUT no one has ever said he won’t be any good. Some just need to take a chill pill

Do you make a beeping noise when you try to back out this fast?

he has plenty of time but lets hope the club has made the right call on picking him at 3. It wont be on the recruiters if it doesn't.

Why is the club overruling the recruiters? Unless it was Rawlings, as someone with experience as a recruiter, maybe I could understand.

But otherwise why even have recruiters? Ughhh honestly done with this club if they're going to pull shit like that without a darn good reason.

I'm sure Phillips will be a gun, but FMD it is concerning.

I hope he takes it with a grain of salt and keeps doing business as usual. Truth is the ‘inside word’ is the best thing about this place and Scoopy has proved himself in the past. I enjoy his posts, as I did Pykies and Heath’s way back when.

If you like gossip, then just invent it yourself.

There's bugger all skill involved.

Not sure how Will can develop his game in our VFL side given it has been ditched so the W team can play political dress ups.

Well a supposed non-member is ditching the afl team to watch a vfl team that he said was ditched for the ladies side.

Please stay tuned for more hyperbole statements

I'd expect the draft decisions are made by Scott Clayton (Head of Player Personnel), Brady Rawling (General Manager of Football), and Glenn Luff (List Manager), after the recruiting team under Mark Finnigan (National Recruiting Manager) make their recommendations on every draft prospect. From what we've heard publicly, that appears to be the structure. That's "the club" in this story and I don't see a problem with that. These three have excellent credentials and a long term vision to build a team capable of challenging. Recruiters on the other hand don't have that responsibility. They just have to look at each kid without factoring in the needs of the team. That there is disagreement over one outstanding prospect over another outstanding prospect is so mundane and to be expected. I'd be more worried if everyone in the club agreed on every selection.

It’s easy to see why recruiters would be drawn to Hollands. Then the club has to decide whether the bust potential with the knee plus positional queries is a risk you can take with pick 3. The kid slipped to GC, so we’ve hardly gone out on a limb by not taking him.

I totally agree with what you're saying, on a counter arguement re hollands- its not like perkins or any other mids were taken before him either. Was basically North considered best mid, then best forward, best defender and then hollands.

Can't wait for phillips to start dominating.
No games in 2020 obviously set him back a little but if North stick him in his preferred position instead of trying to play him deep forward or something then I reckon he'll get into form pretty quick.
Reckon we're onto a winner here.

Firstly if whether we are competitive 4 or 5 years down the track hinges on the decision alone of Phillips/Hollands we will be in all sorts of trouble,

Secondly, this blokes got plenty of runs on the board and if he doesnt succeed it will be more a question of our development than our recruiting.

What happened to Pykie, anyway? I just noticed the other day the cancelled accpunt.

I don’t have any inside word on this but the whole situation is entirely readable. All sources were reporting we settled on Hollands going into the draft. Then we heard from Phillips that we haven’t spoken to him at all virtually. Pretty obvious that we’ve made a late call on this one for whatever reason. And it’s probably not hard to see why, given our list profile.

Or we just played it very well by not letting anyone know who we were after.

What would be the purpose of that? There was zero chance Adelaide would have taken Phillips

Says who the media?
They work on rumours like the rest of us.
What if the crows had got pick two for crouch.
There’s people at club land that have said they’d of taken Phillips at 1 in the open draft.

because we were trying to split the pick and end up with a ****ing elite level draft hand for this year and next.

you can’t do that without some form of bluff - Gold Coast wanted hollands, we played it like wewanted him but if the right deal was there we would move, because we wanted Phillips the whole time
